Sound of silence...

Things are slow around here...real slow actually, so I guess you can say that it's pretty much business as usual. And with holiday coming up things will (if possible) be even slower for the next few weeks...

Work has been somewhat demanding recently, but I'm still listening to music and still doing my best to find some interesting new stuff and today I'm thoroughly enjoying these two songs by new Swedish duo My Sound of Silence. Not ground-breaking or anything, but simply a couple of wonderful down-tempo acoustic indie-folk tracks, with beautiful and dreamy female vocals.

Purple...

Stream or download the new single from the much hyped (and really brilliant) California Wives...actually it's not a new track but instead a new (and highly competent) version of old track Purple!

Morning angels...

This is so unbelievably wonderful...stream or watch Morning Angels; the debut video from Indonesian dream-rock/shoegaze act My Violainé Morning. Thanks to J.A. for the heads up! Actually the entire debut album The Next Episode of This World is downright awesome and I can only recommend that you stream it at SoundCloud!

Saint motel...

Have spent quite some time this morning streaming the highly interesting debut album Voyeur from LA quartet Saint Motel. The album consists of 11 completely irresistible indie tropical party pop rock (not sure if this description make any sense, but there are trumpets and stuff...) tunes and with summer coming up (or rather - it's actually summer NOW) the timing of a release has probably never been better as these songs will sound even better when you put on your Wayfarers and start sipping cold drinks! Grab the album from iTunes...

Mails...

Got a whopping 15,420 emails in my inbox...seriously suck at checking/reading/deleting emails these days...perhaps because the gems found that way are becoming more and more rare, so lots of work and very little reward...but will try to spend a little time today reducing the clutter!

Still far too many mails promoting remixes, hip-hop, rap, metal etc....or to put it quite simply; shit I don't give a damn about! And of course I'm sure that your festival is the best and most interesting ever, but unless you offer plane ticket and accommodation (or it's within 1 hours travel from where I live), I really don't care. And of course it's great that this or that band is touring North America, but...here we go, right back to that plane ticket and accommodation stuff I mentioned two seconds ago! And then of course there's the downright horrible stuff that (for the 1,000th time at least) has me wondering, why someone thinks it's worth promoting and who seriously is paying for it! Note to self: you need to use the "spam" button more often!

Always a balance act...a press release informing that some band is releasing their debut album without a single music link (not even a Youtube one) being included stands very little chance of being read...but including the entire album probably isn't a great idea either (I mean - if each and every one of the 15,000 mails included 45 minutes of music and I wanted to give it all a listen, it would take 11,250 hours or 468 days getting the job done)...so a small appetizer making me hungry for more has to be the answer...?

Just found one that looked intriguing...short message and a download link for a new track...and then the download link isn't working...bummer...hmmm...there's a link for their bandcamp site as well...not bad, but not overly exiting either...

Finally...here's a pretty nice one. Mad Planet (pretty stupid band name) from LA shares Pieces of You from their forthcoming album Ghost Notes. Described as an "electro-pop outfit", though I would probably have included "rock" somewhere as the promo track features some pretty cool, haunting and fairly noisy guitars. As mentioned above...this was the perfect appetizer, so I've just downloaded a copy of the album!
+ Pieces of You

Think I'll give that Mad Planet album a listen, so no more ramblings for now...

Happy...

Begin the day with some gorgeous jangling guitar pop...stream or download new track Happy (When You Lived Here) by Brazilians Pale Sunday...lead track from the band's forthcoming EP The Fake Stories About You And Me that will be out on Matinée Recordings "real soon"...

Easter Island...

Check out these three promo tracks (as well as the video for Hash) from the Easter Island debut album Frightened and then I bet you hurry over to bandcamp and download it (it's one of those "name your price" releases, so I bet you can afford it! - I paid $5 since I expect it to be nothing but fab)...dreamy guitar pop somewhat related to early Coldplay (from back when you actually bothered listening to them)...
