Add to this some melancholic lyrics and you end up with what is truly, truly gorgeous debut track. Of course (as if you hadn't guessed this already) this was unearthed by the incomparable <b>J.A.</b>. He's still around (and so am I, if you care) and from time to time his recommendations pop up at the <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">HitC Facebook</a></b> page...<br />

<br />
<i>A few words that aren’t music related at all. I’m simply just trying to figure out Facebook. Are they trying to con/trick me into spending money on promoting the page or the individual posts? In the beginning my posts easily hit 70 or more reaches (which I guess means unique viewers), but the past week, I’ve been struggling to even get to 40 reaches. The number of likes has stalled, but if the “insight” provided by Facebook can be trusted, I haven’t been “unliked” or “hidden” by anyone, so one should expect the number of reaches to be fairly stable. Unless of course the habits of the “likers” have changed dramatically and they’ve all turned their backs on Facebook (and somehow I doubt that). So are Facebook now showing their true face and revealing themselves as the pushers of the technological world? Kind of giving you all the stuff and kicks you need to begin with, and then ever so slowly reducing the number of people you automatically reach, thus making you all sweaty and nervous and over and over again making you wonder if you should perhaps spend just a little hard earned cash on getting your audience back? But trust me; I won’t be conned and Facebook will never ever get any of my money. It’s still kind of frustrating though!</i><br />
<i><br />
</i> And the mandatory music content...nice catchy track <b><i>Gold Crowned Eagle</i></b> by Icelandic duo <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/kajakmusic">KAJAK</a></b>...Electro-pop with "big tribal drums"<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/141532473&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-22690176834604723512014-04-02T08:57:00.000+02:002014-04-02T08:57:25.005+02:00The Facebook experiment...part seven...Was planning to go on and on whining and complaining, because the number of <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">Facebook</a></b> likes has <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">stalled at 130</a>. But I won't...<br />
<br />
Instead I'll just post a few highlights from the past seven days (as always everything posted is a fucking highlight)...<br />
<br />
A nice electro-pop track from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Twintapes/168545194290">Twintapes</a></b>...<br />

<br />
A nice electro-pop track <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/monogemlovesyou">Monogem</a></b>...<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/138916054&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />

<br />
Finally the debut video from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheMindsOf99">The Minds of 99</a></b>...<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/vGmvtKKF95A" width="425"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-71441694297763056822014-03-26T10:35:00.001+01:002014-03-26T10:35:41.982+01:00The Facebook experiment...part six...Another 20 "likes" in 6 days, so the number of thumbs ups has <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">now reached 124</a>! Trying to make up my mind, when it's time to stop calling it an experiment...200 likes perhaps?<br />
<br />
Some stuff I think you should check out, unless of course you have already done so...<br />
<br />
The stunningly brilliant <b><i>Open Wounds</i></b> by French new-wave trio <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheDivisionMusic">The Division</a></b>. One of the band members was so kind to share the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar/posts/10153873846095012">Facebook post</a>, which by far is the one with the highest total reach (207)...thank you!<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/140719461&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
The gorgeous debut single <b><i><a href="http://shelflife.com/catalogue/LIFE108.html">Distant Drive</a></i></b> (which for some reason cannot be embeded) from new act <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/theluxembourgsignal">The Luxembourg Signal</a></b>. <a href="https://soundcloud.com/crashingthrough/luxembourg-signal-distant?in=crashingthrough/sets/luxembourg-signal">Stream</a>.<br />
<br />
The really, really wonderful <b><i>All The Time</i></b> from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/heliosmusic">Helios/Keith Kenniff</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/140991125&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
The catchy and dynamic debut (one more of those) single <b><i>Young In Mind</i></b> from Danish/Swedish act <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/waitressband">Waitress</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/139888640&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
The official video for <b><i>Til Tomorrow</i></b> by <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/dwntwnmusic">DWNTWN</a></b>. Single of the year?<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ir1ajKQJWKc" width="425"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-23335250345587821002014-03-20T10:48:00.000+01:002014-03-20T10:48:07.657+01:00The Facebook experiment...part five...Reached 100 likes earlier this week (which have since grown to a whopping 104), so beware; world domination is just around the corner...<br />
<br />
Highlights, which actually is an incredibly misleading term, because obviously everything posted on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar"><b>HITC</b> facebook page</a> is a fucking highlight!<br />
<br />
This lovely lo-fi, dreamy and catchy pop tune from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/firestationsband">Fire Stations</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/138534287&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
A song with whistling by Sweden's <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/wutheringheightsmusic">Wuthering Height</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/138387507&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
And of course the brand new track by <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/SLEEPPARTYPEOPLE">Sleep Party People</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/140333185&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
The debut video from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/rosenthalsite">Rosenthal</a></b>, which fits the song perfectly!<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/E0SCSqa10gU" width="425"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-31362139761037945472014-03-14T10:47:00.000+01:002014-03-14T10:47:09.941+01:00Dwntwn...Til Tomorrow...So truly fabulous that I have to share it on (almost) every available platform...new single from LA trio <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/dwntwnmusic">Dwntwn</a></b> and I very much doubt that you'll hear anything this harmonic, catchy and breathtakingly gorgeous today, tomorrow or any time soon! Obviously I posted this on <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar/posts/10153841553785012">Facebook</a></b> earlier today...<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/136542401&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/e3Lv5jShVm8" width="425"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-36704936119358956452014-03-14T08:56:00.000+01:002014-03-14T09:19:14.774+01:00The Facebook experiment...part four...The whining last week helped...a little. 14 new likes, so at a pace of 2 new likes a day, it will take approx. 500 million days before every <b>Facebook </b>user like the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar"><b>HITC</b> page</a>. Now there's an ambition...<br />
<br />
Still waiting for my first page to get to a 100 reaches. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar/posts/10153811356465012">This one</a> has 98, so aaalmost there!<br />
<br />
Some F<a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">acebook highlights</a>:<br />
<br />
New lovely single from the Swedish/Australian twins in <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/SayLouLoumusic">Say Lou Lou</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/139205654&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
There's a new <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/Kent.nu">Kent</a></b> single out. Sadly <a href="http://kent.nu/2014/03/11/la-belle-epoque-lyrics-video/"><b><i>La Belle Epoque</i></b> </a>has to be one of their weaker efforts, apparently focusing way too hard on the political content...<br />
<br />
Here's one of the finds from the mailbox that makes the hours of work going through thousands of emails worthwhile. US duo <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/roladexmusic">Roladex</a></b> sounds like a female fronted version of<b> Kraftwerk</b> and does that sounding not bad at all!<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/128383125&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
Speaking of emails. Starting all over again, so yesterday I decided to delete every single email in my <b>HITC </b>inbox. Time has come to start unsubscribing, updating the spam filter etc.<br />
<br />
Check out this new/updated demo from the talented <b>Bjørn Alexander</b> (a.k.a. <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/flagwhitemusic">Flag White</a></b>). The lyrics are in Danish, but the music is gorgeously dreamy with a delicious twist of shoegaze.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/139053704&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
Finally - I urge you all to give the new single <b><i>Mit Venstre Hjerte</i></b> from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/JonasVillumsenMusik">Jonas Villumsen</a></b> a thorough listen. The track has picked up airplay on various radio stations and deservedly so, as it arguably is his best and most catchy song to date. But he's not selling out completely, as he hasn't abandoned his trademark and tongue twisting lyrics .<br />

A stunning 2 additional "likes" since Monday is not exactly something that will make you go wow! But it doesn't change that it is easier, faster and in every way imaginable far more convenient than this blogger thing! So get used to it...<br />
<br />
A quick <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar"><b>Facebook</b> summary</a>:<br />
<br />
<b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/jose.antonio.92123">J.A.</a></b> (he's still around and will certainly continue to influence the <b>Facebook</b> updates like he influenced hundreds of blog posts) recommends this one by UK trio <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/theseareVioletHours">Violet Hours</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/79178797&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
New superb dreamy guitar pop sog by <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/wearenightflowers">Night Flowers</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/138363395&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
Want to shout from the highest mountain top how truly, truly fabulous <b><i><a href="http://open.spotify.com/album/3BBFUxPg8KFmAv96SmY4ok">Morning Phase</a></i></b> is.<br />
<br />
And a new catchy track from <b>New Zeeland</b> one man project <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/junicamusic">Junica</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/138104654&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
Cool video and cool song from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/witheredhand">Withered Hand</a></b>. "<i>Did you put a horseshoe in my glove?</i>"<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/puJPdfU2F3E" width="425"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-44873102335572597722014-03-03T11:31:00.000+01:002014-03-03T11:31:17.485+01:00The Facebook experiment...part two...74 likes in one week isn’t exactly earthshattering, but still 74 more likes than a week ago! So there’s yet no need to panic and definitely no need to spend some hard earned money on boosting, promoting or whatever buzzwords <b>Facebook </b>are throwing around to get their hands on my well-deserved pocket money. But needless to say there is still room for a few more likes, so please go ahead and throw some love in the direction of <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">HITC</a></b>. Some recent few highlights from the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar"><b>Facebook</b> stream</a>…<br />
<br />
Oh yes…new single from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/ThePainsofBeingPureatHeart">The Pains of Being Pure at Heart</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/136713202&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
And this is perhaps even better. A new track from <b><a href="https://soundcloud.com/a-novel-resort">A Novel Resort</a> </b>(still has no "real" home on the web); the solo project of the drummer of <b>Northern Portrait</b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/137238601&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />

More "likes" would of course be welcomed, so if you happen to be bored or just feel for it, head over to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">the page</a> and give <b>HITC</b> a "thumbs up"!<br />
<br />
Trying my best to convince you to actually do it; here are some of the songs you've missed out on...<br />

Plus the recent additions to the <a href="http://copenhagenpopfest.wordpress.com/2014/02/25/lets-make-some-plans/"><b>Copenhagen Popfest 2014</b> line-up</a>...<br />
<br />
Plus some other stuff as well!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-34868877668719476892014-02-24T09:56:00.001+01:002014-02-24T09:56:20.865+01:00Farewell...?Does <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar">this</a></b> mean that the blog is dead? Don't know, but have just set up a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/HitsInTheCar"><b>Facebook</b> page</a> and plan/expect to post updates there in the future...unless of course, I decide not to...who really knows?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-820316155994265362014-02-21T09:29:00.001+01:002014-02-21T09:29:23.923+01:00Tonight's gonna be a good night...First a cup of coffee/beer and some music talk (and probably some <b>Barça</b> talk as well) with the very talented <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/JonasVillumsenMusik">Jonas Villumsen</a></b>...<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/78616267&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
Then the <a href="http://frostfestival.dk/events/the-mountains-1/">debut concert</a> of <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheMountainsOfficial">The Mountains</a></b>...<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/TB1GxAiuhK0" width="425"></iframe><br />
<br />
So I guess you can say that there's a fairly decent chance that tonight's gonna be a good one...<br />

<br />
Here's a fresh new track from 80's inspired synth-pop duo <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/newarcades">New Arcades</a></b>. As usual it sounds fine and all that, but still waiting for them to hit that home run.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/134013480&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
To any diehard fan of <b>Richard Hawley</b> (like me) the debut album <a href="http://www.roughtrade.com/albums/79244"><b><i>Softly, Softly</i></b></a> by <b>Sheffield</b> band <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/thehosts">The Hosts</a></b> should be just perfect (to me it most certainly is)! Gave it three spins yesterday and it pretty much blew me away!<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/76885369&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
Not really music related in any way, but thought I'd share that last night I finished reading <b><i><a href="http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundra%C3%A5ringen_som_klev_ut_genom_f%C3%B6nstret_och_f%C3%B6rsvann">Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann</a></i></b> (<b><i><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hundred-Year-Old_Man_Who_Climbed_Out_the_Window_and_Disappeared">The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared</a></i></b>) by Swedish author <b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonas_Jonasson">Jonas Jonasson</a></b>. Why worth sharing? Because it's arguably the funniest book I've ever read!<br />
<br />
My inbox tells me that <b>SXSW</b> is coming up...checking...<a href="http://sxsw.com/">sure enough</a>!<br />
<br />
Everything I've heard so far from Norwegians <a href="https://www.facebook.com/makingmarks"><b>Making Marks</b></a> has been just lovely, so seriously need to check out the debut album <b><i><a href="http://shop.fikarecordings.com/album/a-thousand-half-truths">A Thousand Half-Truths</a></i></b>...they'd be a pretty good fit for <b><a href="http://copenhagenpopfest.wordpress.com/">Copenhagen Popfest</a></b> too, me thinks!<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/127184005&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
In need of a healthy dose of vitamin D? Then check out this wonderful and very summerly video by <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/adrian.sieber">Adrian Sieber</a></b> for <b><i>Hurts So Good</i></b>...reminds me that we haven't booked (or even planned) a holiday for this summer! Italy perhaps?<br />

<br />
- Whining about the number of mails in my inbox...no, just kidding!<br />
<br />
- <b><a href="http://copenhagenpopfest.wordpress.com/">Copenhagen Popfest 2014</a></b>. Remember the <a href="http://stytzer.blogspot.dk/2010/04/copenhagen-popfestsome-thoughts.html">2010 edition</a>? It was a blast! <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/alpacasports">Alpaca Sports</a></b> will be there...<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/132754921&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
and so will <b><a href="http://olivernorthboychoir.eu/">Oliver North Boy Choir</a></b> (debut concert? - not sure!)...<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/48798948&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe>><br />
<br />
Haven't bought my <a href="http://copenhagenpopfest.wordpress.com/tickets/">ticket</a> yet, but will...soon! Hopefully at some later point a more in-depth post of the <b>Popfest</b> will be up.<br />
<br />
- Go on and on about how seriously cool the new single by <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/treefightforsunlight">Treefight For Sunlight</a></b> is!<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/124696593&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
- Lobbying real hard for <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/thesunSPACEdays">The Sun Days</a></b> to be added to the <a href="http://copenhagenpopfest.wordpress.com/lineup/"><b>Copenhagen Popfest</b> lineup</a>...<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/5IhjTrocUhc" width="425"></iframe><br />
<br />
- The forthcoming <b><a href="http://shelflife.com/">Shelflife </a></b>release of the <a href="http://shelflife.com/catalogue/LIFE107.html">5-track EP</a> by Australians <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/flyyingcolours">Flyying Colours</a></b>.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/133426947&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
- And probably some other stuff as well...and now...back to work!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-17043757537989412122014-02-03T10:33:00.000+01:002014-02-03T10:33:03.373+01:00Smelling salts...On his new album <b><i><a href="http://gaffa.dk/anmeldelse/79683">L'esprit de l'escalier 99-13</a></i></b>, Danish artist <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/junckerdk">Juncker</a> </b>has recorded a Danish cover version (called <b><i>Lugtesalt no5</i></b>) of<a href="https://www.facebook.com/northern.portrait"> <b>Northern Portrait</b></a>'s <b><i>A Quiet Night in Copenhagen</i></b>. Interesting, different and surprisingly decent, but in the end it never really manages to evoke and copy the magic of the original. But one can only hope that this re-recording/cover by a slightly more established and mainstream artist, could help shedding a little more light on <b>Northern Portrait</b> or at least on the band's fine songwriting skills?<br />

Or least I've become fairly pretty good at pretending that it doesn't. But for whatever reason, I've just recently discovered <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/ibreakhorses">I Break Horses</a></b>. They haven't exactly been the world's best kept secret, so how I missed out...I don't know. And I really don't care or see no point in figuring out why. Rambling on when all I'm trying to say is that <b><i><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiaroscuro_(I_Break_Horses_album)">Chiaroscuro</a></i></b> is absolutely brilliant.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/119666515&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
A friend of mine is trying to convince me that I should join him and some of our old compadres at this year's <b><a href="http://roskilde-festival.dk/">Roskilde Festival</a></b>. Are you kidding me? I'm 45 years old and my body feels far more comfortable surrounded by five-star luxury than in a tent, with mud up to my knees and getting no sleep for a week. And the <a href="http://roskilde-festival.dk/music/bands/">lineup</a> so far doesn't exactly make anyone drool; does it? Add a few names and then perhaps I'd reconsider. But I won't give you any, because then you might actually book one (*cough* *<b>Richard</b>* *cough* *<b>Hawley</b>* *cough* *cough* *<b>Doves</b>*) or two of them, and thus forcing me to join the lads!<br />
<br />
The release of new single <b><i>Summer In Your Eyes</i></b> by Danish one man project <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/kitesandkomets">Kites and Komets</a></b> might seem a bit oddly timed with a title like that. Especially when looking out the window and everything here is cold, white and windy. But listen to the lyrics and it all makes (a little) more sense. Musically it's a gorgeously catchy pop tune with (no surprise really) a wonderful summerly feel to it! No <b>SoundCloud</b> link, so you'll have to find it on <b><a href="https://itunes.apple.com/dk/album/summer-in-your-eyes-single/id795021634?l=da">iTunes</a> </b>etc. or use the <b><a href="http://open.spotify.com/track/6HmCQ0h3ML42OoClHHW88D">Spotify</a></b> link below (if the goddamn thing is working?).<br />
<iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="100" src="https://embed.spotify.com/?uri=spotify:track:6HmCQ0h3ML42OoClHHW88D" width="425"></iframe><br />
Excellent Danish singer-songwriter <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/staerosaurus">Stærosaurus</a></b> uploaded a fine new track yesterday from his forthcoming debut album <b><i>Store Hoved</i></b> (translates into <b><i>Big Head</i></b> in case you were wondering). Called <b><i>Loopet </i></b>(the loop) and I'll leave it to you guessing why it's called exactly that...<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/131786718&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
New <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/chorusgrant">Chorus Grant</a></b> track, the achingly beautiful <b><i>O Everyone</i></b>, went straight in at number one on radio chart <b><a href="http://www.dr.dk/p3/artikel/barometerlisten">Barometerlisten</a></b>. Vote, vote and vote again to please help the track stay at the top spot.<br />

Two pretty amazing singles released so far, so obviously I do expect the debut album <b><i><a href="http://themountains.parlophone.dk/collections/all">The Mountains, The Valleys, The Lakes</a></i></b> (out <a href="http://themountains.parlophone.dk/">March 10</a>) to be nothing short of a masterpiece (ok - a little less will do). With the debut single being named <b><i>The Mountains</i></b>, am I the only one expecting the band's next (and third) single to be called <b><i>The Lakes</i></b>?<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/O8lpAOre_-8" width="425"></iframe><br />
<br />
And the video for <b><i>The Mountains</i></b>...<br />

Five years ago I would probably have written something in the line of that "you only need to listen for three seconds before realizing that this band has to be from <b>Sweden</b>"<b> </b>(okay, okay wise guys - I know they start the song counting in Swedish, but that's not what I'm talking about...). Guess things haven't changed all that much, because <b><i><a href="http://luxuryrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dont-need-to-be-them">Don't Need To Be Them</a></i></b> has that absolutely wonderful, very typical and (apparently) enduring Swedish indie pop sound to it.<br />

<br />
If you haven't (I hadn't) - do check out the band's debut single <b><a href="http://luxuryrecords.bandcamp.com/album/you-cant-make-me-make-up-my-mind">You Can't Make Me Make Up My Mind</a><i></i></b>; it's an equally lovely slice of pop!<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/118984163&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-55253906268906701422014-01-24T13:27:00.001+01:002014-01-24T13:27:17.129+01:00Blush...New demo track by promising UK quartet <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/HUSH80">HUSH!</a></b>. Not quite able to match their fabulous debut track <b><i>There's Something In The Stars Tonight</i></b> (and somehow I doubt they ever will), but <b><i>Blush</i></b> still manages to hold its own nicely and once again (the vocals especially) the band sounds somewhat <b>New Order</b> inspired (not that I mind at all!).<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/130524781&color=ff5500&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />

When the message arrived, I was busy watching some show on <b>Netflix</b>, but <b><i>Everything We Ever Hoped For</i></b> quickly put an end to that. And <b><i>Everything We Ever Hoped For</i></b> certainly is just that; everything we could ever hope for! A grand, melancholic, beautiful and epic pop ballad, which (musically more than vocally) of course made me think of blog favorite <b><a href="http://richardhawley.co.uk/">Richard Hawley</a></b>, which again is probably the biggest accolade I can give any other artist. If any of you remember enjoying <b><a href="http://stytzer.blogspot.dk/2008/06/mirror-lounge.html">The Mirror Lounge</a></b> (<b>M </b>& <b>Northern Portrait</b> companion <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/stefan.larsen.984">Stefan Larsen</a></b>’s former band), this new track will (for the second time) be everything (and much more) you could ever hope for. And finally to clear out a couple of things:<br />
No – this doesn’t mean an end to <b>M</b>'s involvement in <b>Northern Portrait</b>. <br />
Yes – an album is on its way.<br />
No – he doesn’t know when, where and how it will be released.<br />
Yes – he’s written and recorded everything himself, so it is indeed a solo project.<br />
Of course – I will keep you updated whenever there is news to share.<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/130647412&color=ff6600&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
And if you’ve never heard of <b>The Mirror Lounge</b> mentioned above, I can only feel sorry for you. This will provide you with another and maybe final chance, so don’t miss out on it once again – ok?<br />
<iframe frameborder="no" height="166" scrolling="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/130774037&color=ff6600&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%"></iframe>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11982859465125753913noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3947048.post-62974448313635982852014-01-21T09:56:00.001+01:002014-01-21T09:56:14.968+01:00O Everyone...Start the day by checking out new single <b><i>O Everyone</i></b> from <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/chorusgrant">Chorus Grant</a></b>. A quite introverted, anything but exuberant and, I guess, very typical singer-/songwriter piece, but at the same time very, very beautiful. New album out on <b><a href="http://tambourhinoceros.net/product/space">Tambourhinoceros</a></b> soon (January or February depending on the source)...<br />

Up to the start of 2014 the winter in <b>Denmark w</b>as probably among the warmest ever, but just around the exact moment earlier this month, when I was finally allowed to resume my running career, King Winter decided it was time to wake up from his slumber and return to action. Not only making it cold, but extremely windy (fucking hate wind – runners generally do) as well. Thank you so very, very much for trying your utmost to tear down whatever little motivation I’m able to build up, but please do go on if you like; you won’t stop me!<br />

This glorious track by NY shoegaze duo <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Blessed-Isles/217838284909337">The Blessed Isles</a></b> popped up on <b><a href="https://soundcloud.com/stream">SoundCloud </a></b>not so many hours ago. Taken from the band’s forthcoming LP, which will be out later this year and if the rest of tracks are able to even remotely match <b><i>Chase Away the Sun</i></b> (truly not a very good title for a song on a day like today) it most certainly will be a real treat for any fan of the classic, epic, dream-pop sound. <br />

<b><a href="http://www.alphabeat.dk/">Alphabeat</a></b>, not exactly among the most featured bands around here, has decided to take a break to let the band members focus on various other musical projects. Recently lead singer <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/stinebramsen">Stine Bramsen</a></b> lent her voice to <b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/carparknorth">Carpark North</a></b> (which resulted in the surprisingly strong <b><i>32 </i></b>– stream below) and today her debut solo single <b><i>Prototypical</i></b> hits the streets (hmmm – that’s a completely outdated expression – should probably be hits the airwaves and streams near you instead). Already picked up by Danish radio (it’s this week’s <b><a href="http://www.dr.dk/php/p3/komma-nul-wordpress/">Uundgåelige</a> </b>(inevitable) on <b><a href="http://www.dr.dk/p3">P3</a></b>) and the live session version of the track was praised by a number of foreign bloggers last week. Actually I did hear the song on radio this morning and to be quite honest it didn't leave much of an impression! But then the video hit my mailbox earlier today and I decided to give it a few more spins. And I really should be to "experienced" to be surprised of what happened, because like it's often the case with a great song, it required a small effort before I fully started appreciating it. The song does no mark a radical career change or anything, because just like <b>Alphabeat</b> this is still pop music (though the track has a slight gospel feel). But it's less summer and bubblegum, has a far more mature expression without forgetting that most important thing is that a great pop song has to be catchy; and it sure is!<br />

A preview of the song (apparently meaning that it's not the complete version)...<br />

Light years from the stuff I normally post around here, but this one has really been getting under my skin (if you can actually use that expression in a positive way?)<br />

Wouldn't be surprised though, if it's a kind of gimmick, where it at some later point will revealed that it's a constellation of artists involved in other <b>Labrador</b> related bands!?...but debut single <b><i><a href="https://soundcloud.com/#labrador-records/head">Head</a></i></b> is a really fine and catchy electronic pop single, which verifies that it's not a coincidence (whoever turns out to be hiding behind the alias) that this artist has been added to the <b>Labrador </b>roster.<br />
