Friday blurbs...

Recently I’ve been thinking more and more about switching language and start writing my posts in Danish instead. Let’s be honest for second. My English isn’t really any good and these posts are taking me forever to write. Writing in Danish would save me a lot of time and I’m pretty certain that the posts will be funnier and a tiny bit more interesting to read if written in my native language. But the obvious reason why I’m rooting against this switch is that I, pretty much like every other naïve blogger, hope that someday the entire world will be knocking on my bloggerdoor. Then it would be plain stupid that the world couldn't understand what I was writing - wouldn't it. And furthermore I'd probably risk loosing the two non-Danish speaking readers I have, if I made such a change? So for now the blog will continue being written in English and the dictionary will remain my loyal and trusted companion.

I wrote it earlier this week and I’m happy to repeat it. The more I listen to Our Love To Admire the more I like it.

Handily Supertroels has posted a compilation of all his freebies.

Some might ask what's there to be excited about, but I'm really, really looking forward to see Spion and The Holiday Show in concert tonight. Family obligations make it pretty difficult to fill my calendar with concert dates, so for obvious reasons I have to treasure the ones where I get the opportunity to go.
+ Spion - Dine Øjne
+ The Holiday Show - Put Me On A TV-show

This has already received plenty of blogger love, but I think that the great initiative deserves my recognition as well. The independent label Autumn Tone (run by Justin of An Aquarium Drunkard) has reissued the debut album Shadows Rise by post-folk duo Travel By Sea, as an “appetizer” for the band’s second release – due later this summer/fall. And a beautiful album it is. So quiet and mellow that you almost get the impression that it was created especially for the rainy days spent on the couch with a smoking cup of coffee in your hand. Despite truly deserving it, the album probably won’t appeal to the masses (these kinds of bands just never seem to do), so I very much doubt that it will propel the band (or the label for that matter) to stardom. But I assume at lot less will do just fine? However should I be wrong; then it's possible to buy the album here. Finally - am I really the only one who easily could imagine Lindsey Buckingham performing Brightside?
+ Brightside
+ Complete Shakeup

Chris posted it yesterday and I'll post it today. The new (AND free) track by Iron and Wine is excellent. His new album will be released September 25.

Yeah, keep on writing in English. I'm writing in my native language (Turkish) and entire world will not be knocking on my bloggerdoor. It's no good :)

thanks for that decision, Morten... as much as I'd like to learn Danish, it would be quite a hassle! And your English isn't bad... at least not worse than mine! ;)

Have a great concert tonight!

Thanks :)

@tolga - send me the link to your blog and I'd be happy to post it in the blogroll :) Turkish or not!

@chris - and don't you start writing yours in German. Though it probably would be easier for me to learn German that for you to learn Danish I guess?

First of all. I am PRETTY sure there are more then just 3 non-danish readers. Second of all I wouldn't get any of your amazing recommendations (I am quite egoistic there I know). And last but not least, I already read music blogs by native English speakers who were definitely worst then yours :) .

What about making it a bit bilingual ? Or even start a second one in Danish ?

Anyways, keep up the really good work and so far thanks for all this music you've been "giving" to me.

Damnit, did I just type "worst" meaning "worse" ?

@Daniel - 3 and couting then :) I once tried to write one in Danish as well, but it didn't exactly reduce the time spent on blogging :(

Of course I'd continue following your blog even if it would be written in Danish. Although I wouldn't understand a word from then on... But the music speaks up for itself. :-)

Guten Morgen Herr Morten, I've a great idea. I know, this sounds from a stupid German verrrrry strrrrrrrangely, but....
Write, nevertheless, in two languages. Then I can learn maybe still a little the Danish language :-)

Well, you're doing very well with the dictionary -- far better than me; I don't think I've ever seen you make a mistake in English. You're right though -- English does make things a lot more accessable, but on the other hand, writing in your native language does make things much easier...
Also, thank you for so consistantly having such wonderful music here...

I am glad that you continue to write in english, as my danish isn't existing.

Did you ever find out more about the Friday Night Club?

This is one of my collaborations (in English, it has lyrics and mp3's): http://lyricsfly.blogspot.com

This is one of my collaborations, too (Turkey's probably most tracking music blog): http://themodernway.blogspot.com/

I'll add your blog to my blogroll, too. Thank you!

Hi! As you can see Stytzer we are more than 3 people who likes and enjoy your blog. I also think your English is good, but if you decide to write in Danish as Parklife says (I also "read" with an online translator his blog and I don`t know a word of German!!)music will speaks up for itself!

Please keep with the English! I don't think it's poorly written at all. And while I would probably try to keep reading if it switched languages just because the recommendations are so good, I'm not sure I could make it.

Yet another loyal English-speaking reader.

As Morrissey says, America is not the world. But America still "drives" the world -- in good and bad ways, and Americans speak English (though often badly). (And Morrissey chooses to live in America, by the way). All of which is to say: I hope you'll stick with the English for now. In a few years, though, you may want to begin transitioning to Chinese....
