Four to the floor...

Check this live studio recording of new VETO track Four To The Floor from their forthcoming album (Sinus).

This and that...

Still busy...and lazy...

This sucks in a major sucking way. The utterly brilliant The Holiday Crowd will be at Stengade on September 7 and since months I have other and completely non-cancellable plans for that evening. If ever, now is the time to us the f-word!
+ Never Speak Of It Again

Check the line-up for this year's Indie Pop Days Berlin and let your heart be filled with envy...unless of course you're one of the lucky bastards who are going!
+ Azure Blue - Little Confusions

In a promo mail Victories At Sea promises that "there will be something new for your eyes and ears very soon". Future Gold was (and remain) one heck of a track, but can't live on that track forever, so new material is eagerly awaited!

On his Facebook page, Northern Portrait frontman Stefan confirms that the rumours about a new EP are in fact more than just rumours. Another rumour, started by Stefan himself, suggests that it will be released in September, though of course it doesn't say what year...!

Windsurfing...

Introducing a new Danish project named Windsurfing. First track Never Too Late is a catchy little pop song with quite a summerly feel to it that would make it a perfect late-summer hit. If only we could find a way to get it a little exposure, so it would reach the "masses". For now the people behind have decided to stay anonymous, though I can assure that I am in no way involved (so no shameless self-promotion).

Apple of my eye...

Australian one man project Space March has recorded this new demo track describing it as something that would "sound like if New Order, Roxy Music and Ennio Morricone teamed-up for a song"...and know what...it's not completely wrong!!

Gazing at the moon...

New video from Sleep Party People...slightly morbid as usual...suffering badly from insomnia these days (I'm completely drained; partly explaining the lack of updates), so wondering if any of those pills are sleeping pills?

Blue choir...

The Brythoniad Male Voice Choir has recorded this cover of Blue Monday as a tribute to New Order and to help promoting Welsh festival Festival No. 6. Stunning cover ...just stunning! And the festival sight seems to be equally stunning!

Azure acid...

Wow...for a second there I thought it was New Order! Azure Blue remixes Acid House Kings and impressively makes them sound even lovelier than usual...been a while since I listened to the original version and a bit surprised how different the remix manages and still being able to improve on the appeal of the original...

On trial...

Here's another nice one from the mailbox. In the opening seconds On Trial by The Tricks reminds me quite a lot of Interpol (probably because of the drums and the vocals), but pretty quickly evolves into a brilliant and energetic powerpop/rock anthem bearing only little resemblance to the aforementioned band. The video includes a few clips from my favorite Monty Python sketch and will probably amuse a few movie buffs!

What a feeling...

Stream new single Jennifer Beals by Swiss act Lovebugs. Cheerful and downright catchy though I'm not quite sure exactly what the song is all about (I'm really bad at catching lyrics), though Jennifer Beals obviously plays some part in it all! From the album Life is Today, which I believe has to be their ninth (?)!

Once around...

I love High Highs. I really do, so finding info on a new track and forthcoming debut album from the Brooklyn trio (yes - I do realize that there is only two of them on the picture) in the mailbox is obviously excellent news. And newbie Once Around the House sure doesn't disappoint as it's a real pretty harmony-laden folk-pop tune, which reminds some of Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear. Only bad thing to say (I'm a nitpicker, I know) is that they haven't succeeded topping or even matching the wonderful Open Season (which I'm certain will go down as one of my all-time favorite tracks a few years from now and thus being the standard upon which they are measured), though I'm confident they will some day!

Not quite dead...yet...

Holiday, work, summer fatigue...excuses are aplenty for the lack of updates. None of them are really worth anything, so call me a lazy bastard, who has lost interest if you like. Not ready to give up on the blog quite yet, so will give it one final push and get this blog back in shape. Just checked mails, updates etc. and there sure are enough stuff to recommend, share, pass on etc., so check back from time to time and perhaps you'll find that the blog (for a change) has been updated!

While I try to get back in blogging mode, I strongly recommend that you spend a few minutes checking this simply wonderful new track by Danish lo-fi, singer-songwriter trio Stærosaurus taken from the band's forthcoming debut album. Smeltet Sammen is a quiet emotional beauty or as I just wrote...simply wonderful!

Oh...there's this nice little video as well...
