News from Late Night Venture...

Danish post-rock/shoegaze act Late Night Venture will put out their sophomore album Pioneers of Spaceflight on October 15 through Target Distribution, Dunk! Records and Oxide Tones. To be honest I never really expected a follow-up to their fine debut (released way back in 06), so great learning that they are still around and sounding as great as ever! If you cannot wait another two weeks for the album, you can stream it in its entirety via SoundCloud.

Saturday...

Danish electro pop quartet Turboweekend will be at Toldkammeret in Helsingør on Saturday and if you happen to be in the neighborhood (chances are slim, I know), I can only recommend that you attend the concert as both band and venue are really great. I promise to buy anyone a beer who comes up to me and utter "Hits In The Car sucks" or whatever you feel like saying...

Beaches...

Still ridiculously busy at work, but not busier than finding enough time to post this video by new Danish electronic pop duo Lyrebyrds for their truly wonderful and melancholic track Beaches. Just like that Everest track I posted last week, this immediately blew me away! Going to keep a real close eye on these guys, as I suspect (hope) we'll hear from the lads...

The demo version of the track is available for download via Bandcamp.

Cutting steps in the roof of the world...up and up...

It doesn't happen as often as I wish it would, but every once in a while a track simply blows me away on the very first listen. The new single Everest by Public Service Broadcasting (a duo from London "Teaching the lessons of the past through the music of the future" - did you know that Everest was once called Peak 15?) is one of the rare few. The track is based on the 1953 documentary The Conquest of Everest and mixes a wonderful instrumental track with spoken parts from the film. The end result is nothing but stunning or as someone wrote on Youtube, this is "Absolutely breathtaking, both musically and visually" and definitely a must see (and listen)...

Beacons...

Here's the new video from I Like Trains. For the single Beacons from their third album The Shallows. The sound, the voice...this band is simply awesome!

Perhentian buzz...

In need of a healthy dose of summer and pop now that autumn has started for real? If so, then check out the irresistibly charming and catchy Perhentian Buzz by new Danish band Android Orchestra, which will (it’s almost an guarantee) make your feet tapping, make you spend the rest of the day dreaming of beaches and cold drinks and perhaps even make the sun start shining (if not for real, then in your mind at least)…from the band's forthcoming debut Are we looking at the same stars which will be out October 1...

Jesu...

As per usual I've been sleeping under a rock and somehow completely missed that something interesting was brewing. Weird-named Danish act The Late Great Fitzcarraldos has been doing pretty well recently on indie radio chart Barometerlisten with this track named Jesu and deservedly so. I do however (as always) find it pretty damn close to impossible to describe the music...but it's a meditative, groovy and electronic piece that at the same time somehow manages to be pretty catchy as well...and really, really cool!

HML...

Stream/download new track HML by Finns Delay Trees. Sounding great (this band is great so of course is does) and thus perfect appetizer for forthcoming album Doze...

2 quick ones...

Work is pretty much fucked up these days and leaves me absolutely no time for blogging. Work pays the bills I know, but that aside it pretty much sucks!

Lovebugs has recorded this nice little cover of one of the anthems of my teenage years (recall kissing a few girls while dancing to this one...believe it or not!)...

The great The Boombox Hearts are in the midst of recording their debut album, which (I quote) "will be gloomy as fuck". This track has been judged "too happy" to make the album (which could indeed end up being a depressive mess, if this is too happy), so instead it will serve as an appetizer while we're all awaiting the release of the debut...

J.A. recommends...

Have completely lost track how many times J.A. has recommended songs by completely unknown bands that have made me go WOW! There's Something In The Stars Tonight by (new?) UK act HUSH! is the most recent one and of course it's a wonderful and catchy guitar-pop track (he's a sucker for those) or simply put...a classic indie-pop tune!

Bring out the brooms...

Been a while, so spending a little time today checking mails. Despite writing fewer and fewer posts the emails keep on coming, so my guess is that none of the people sending are actually paying any attention to the activity (or lack of it) on the blog! Naively (as always) hoping that I'll find some interesting stuff...if I do, it will pop up somewhere in the right column (just look for "NEW!" and should have no problems finding it/them)...

Poles apart...

Finally...new music and a video from incredibly promising Victories at Sea. Poles Apart might not be as fantastic as Future Gold, but still pretty damn amazing!

Apparently not a completely new track as I just found this 10 month old remix of it!

Mirror...

I really, really ought to write on and on about how truly fabulous the new Cody album Fractures is, but right now I'm experiencing what probably is the worst writer's block ever, since I started this blog. So instead I'll just share their new video for the wonderful track Mirror and hopefully it will inspire you to check out the album!

New video from Crybaby for the truly wonderful single We're Supposed To Be In Love...
