Check out this rather amazing new video from Rangleklods for new single Riverbed (second single off debut album Beekeeper)...have yet to check out the album, but since every single track I've heard so far from the band (artist) has been pretty awesome, it's probably about time I did!
Danish duo Bodebrixen has been signed by Playground Music and earlier this week the lads published first single Ghost from their forthcoming album Out of Options. The track has an appealing summer-pop-feel-good sound to it, but the lyrics (“you’re a living ghost…hiding in your basement”) are surprisingly darker when compared to the almost uplifting sound. Promises well for the album!
Two years ago Tender Objects (or The Candy Twins as they were called back then...or was that a completely different band...I'm not sure) recorded a brilliant tribute song to Northern Portrait called The Next Big Thing. Now the band has been inspired once again and in a Facebook message yesterday, David of the band wrote that he has written this new track after listening to the Sambassadeur track Kate. If that is what it takes to inspire people to write fine new pop songs, people should certainly listen more the Sambassadeur! Will be streaming for a short time only (whatever that means exactly?)...
According to It's A Trap this is "the best new video in the world right now" and have to admit that both video and song (Grenade by Henric de la Cour) are indeed incredibly cool. If you enjoy dark goth inspired synthpop, you'll definitely love this one! From his forthcoming limited edition 7" vinyl.
Bart & Friends is the most recent addition to the Matinée "roster" and title track There May Come A Time from the band's forthcoming EP is just as sweet and catchy (with jangling guitars of course) as you have come to expect from anything released by this superior label.
Blink and the good ones are taken. Been away from the computer for a couple of days, meaning that I’m a bit late posting this new track by California Wives…which I believe they are giving away to sort of celebrate that they’ve been signed to Vagrant Records. Being late or not, I just have to post it; for a number of reasons. First and foremost it simply needs to be shared, because California Wives is one of the best and most interesting new bands around (despite that horrible, horrible band name). Everything put out by the band so far has been stunningly brilliant and new track Marianne is no exception, being a real catchy indie-pop-new-wave kind of thing. Furthermore the title reminds of a rather wonderful girl I once knew, whose name was…you guessed it…Marianne, whom I actually dreamt of marrying (though I never got around asking her that big question). Sadly (and luckily) things never worked out as I hoped they would, so we split, and a few years later I met another girl (even more wonderful), and this one I did in fact end up marrying. And nearly 12 years later we still are! But Marianne still has this little soft spot in my heart…
Stream/download intriguing debut track/single Solsikker by new Danish act Navneløs. Probably best described as a real close “relative” to Under Byen, which hopefully means that it will appeal to one or two non-Danish speaking listeners?
If you like catchy electronic pop songs, I highly recommend that you check out Swedish duo This Vision. Their sophomore album The Golden Age We Lost was released last Friday and contains 10...well; no surprise really...catchy electronic pop songs!
Swiss act Lovebugs has published this sweet (quite funny and in some ways slightly sentimental) little lyrics/animated video for their new single Little Boy (album link). Will hopefully catch the attention of Danish music fans, as it features Søren Huss of Saybia on vocals and ukulele (check the video for more details)...and this is more than just a fine video, as the song itself is a really nice, catchy alternative pop/rock tune...
Here's the new video and (soon to be released) single by Swedish indie quartet Paris. Say It, the lead track from the forthcoming EP FromParis To Pluto, is the first new recording we hear from the band since 2007 and what a track it is! Labelling themselves a "popindiedisco" band and to cut things short, Say It is superb blend of exactly those genres being catchy as hell, heavily guitar driven and with pumping dance beats. Wow; Just wow!
Still just an incredible lazy sod...not feeling like writing at all, but sure need to get this blog back up and running...somehow...
Azure Blue has recorded this instrumental cover of Sweet Child O' Mine. Said to be "just a demonstration of a slightly new sound". In a way I hope so as, to be honest, the cover is pretty tedious. But I'm certainly looking forward to the new songs... Azure Blue - Sweet Child Instrumental demo
Danish duo Dampfbahn has posted a brand new track named Love Like A Flower. They have always written some nice catchy pop songs and this one is no exception; though has some (intended?) novelty to it... Love is like a Flower by DAMPFBAHN!
Has anyone given the new Richard Hawley album Standing at the Sky's Edge a listen? Not exactly the type of album I (or probably anyone else) expected, as it sounds like he had some serious anger to get off his chest. Whether or not it was the wrath that ignited it I obviously don't know, but musically the album heads off in a complete different direction (the first 4 tracks especially), when comparing it to previous releases, as gone are the strings and the guitars in complete control. But the songwriting is a good as ever, the production is fine, the man himself still possesses one of the best voices in music and the second half of the album is to some extent a return to the "old sound", which probably will please some...so summed up this is "just" another album to add to the list of excellent releases by Mr. Hawley! Richard Hawley - Standing At The Sky's Edge
Super brilliant UK quartet The Number has posted a brand new version (radio edit) of old track Jolan District. A version that, believe it or not, is even more freakin' awesome than the original! Hopefully this means that more news and new songs are on the way...?
New video by Junica for the single Stay. According to a recent Facebook update, the debut album, following up last year's brilliant Junica EP, will be out in July.
Brooklyn act (duo?) Sensual Harassment sure knows how to create dance floor fillers. Two years ago I posted the pumping and irresistibly catchy Fever (which I often include when putting together a playlist for running) and just recently they finished their equally irresistible (and danceable) remix of Stranger's Shine On You. Which actually is a pretty fine track in its own right (though that one really isn't for the dance floors)...
Watch or stream We've Only Just Begun by Estonian trio Picnic. From the forthcoming 7" single that will be out on Shelflife at the end of the month. Expect that shoegaze/dreampop fans will start drooling when they hear this!
Two new and really interesting tracks found at Soundcloud. To The Night by Earth First (cannot find any fanpage/webpage, though a little info can be found on bandcamp) will be the lead track (?) on the upcoming 7" single to be released by Cloudberry Records. And is every bit as sweet, charming and wonderful a song as one would expect to find on a Cloudberry release! The second track is a new recording by Danish electronic/experimental act Altmodisch. More straightforward and far catchier than I ever imagined it would be; so quite a positive surprise!
All words in this blog are written by me. It’s a blog about music. A music blog! About music that I like and artists I care for. Things have to be relevant to me. Not necessarily to anyone else. I’m Danish. I live in Denmark. I write at a lot about Danish music. And a lot about foreign music as well. Artists and labels not afraid of sharing music are the coolest. In the past I’ve been getting invaluable recommendations from José Antonio (J.A.) and Rodolfo; and still do! Big thanks to Steven of Letters Have No Arms! for designing the previous banner! Thanks to Ryan of Rikers for creating the current one! Songs for download are sometimes uploaded by me. But only when I have received permission from the artists/labels OR the songs are legally available for free elsewhere.
