This Vision...

If you like catchy electronic pop songs, I highly recommend that you check out Swedish duo This Vision. Their sophomore album The Golden Age We Lost was released last Friday and contains 10...well; no surprise really...catchy electronic pop songs!

20th Century...

Stream new song 20th Century by Swedish duo This Vision. Nice and catchy electro pop and...well that's pretty much it...

Heaven can wait...

One of three fine acoustic performances by This Vision recorded at a 100 year old theatre hall in Helsingborg, Sweden. Relaxed, beautiful and quite a refreshing alternative to the band's normal electro pop sound!

Bits and pieces...

Don’t know if anyone has noticed, but I’ve started to use the download links from the promo mails rather than uploading songs myself. Not that I’ve had any recent problems with IFPI, but for whatever reason I’ve suddenly become too much of a chicken to risk anything.

Death Valley Sleepers has a lovely and rather melancholic new track named Along The Canals streaming at Myspace. Because of the band’s growing popularity (thanks to that car commercial) the days of the freebies are over. At least for now.

Congrats to Albin from Sweden, who’s the lucky winner of the Ceremony - A New Order Tribute CD. Will try to ship the CD this weekend!

I’ve downloaded the 6 track Making Up A Changing Mind EP by Pretty Lights for free from the official webpage and though I still think this is seriously annoying (downtempo, jazz influenced instrumental hip-hop really isn’t my thing), I’m nonetheless drawn to it.
+ I Can See It In Your Face

Dad Rocks! is a solo project by Mimas frontman Snævar Njáll Albertsson and the forthcoming Digital Age EP will be the first ever release on new label Kanel Records. This is laid back, lo-fi, stripped down and really quite beautiful. The exact opposite of Pretty Lights, you could say.
+ Aroused By Hair

The 7” single Den Lille Havfrue by A Smile and A Ribbon will be out May 20 on Cloudberry Records. In case anyone’s wondering, the song title is Danish for The Little Mermaid.

Shorties...

Working my way through mails, updates etc.

Northern Portrait (sort of) verifies that they have finished the recordings of the debut album Criminal Art Lovers.
+ I Give You Two Seconds To Entertain Me

Quite frustrating to learn that the Ruined by Martin concert at Rust (Copenhagen) November 14 has been cancelled. Especially annoying since the problem "finding a babysitter" had been solved. Instead I'll attend the first (of hopefully many) The Banana Hold-Up club nights.
+ Defy The Odds

Glorious acts like Play People, Celestial and The Legends are among the artists included on the forthcoming Rough Trade Indiepop 09 compilation. Check the tracklist and start drooling!
+ Play People - Goes Out

Two brand new tracks by excellent Danish band Lastbandalive are streaming at Myspace.

Slumberland Records has just put out a smorgasbord of 7” singles; each accompanied by a free download promo track. Currently trying to figure out which track I like the most!

Swedish synth pop duo This Vision has just released their self-titled debut album on their own label Devotion Records. I'll write more once I've listened to the entire album, though I do recommend that you give the four streamable tracks a listen. Unless of course you don't like catchy pop music!

Former Decorate Decorate band member Mikkel Holtoug shares his remix of the Turboweekend track Trouble Is.

This Vision EP...

Two days ago Swedish synthpop trio This Vision announced that their new 4 track EP had been released. Apparently technology had been playing the boys a few tricks, so obviously they seemed quite relieved that they finally had been able to finish the EP. If you're into catchy and danceable pop songs dominated by synths and drum machines (definitely some PSB inspiration here), you can order the EP by mailing the band or take the easy route and simply decide to download all four tracks for free at Myspace.

The William Blakes +++

The William Blakes continues to record new songs and the past week 3 new tracks have been uploaded to Myspace. The band has been so kind to mail me all 3 tracks in high quality and given me permission to post all of them as well. The songs remain difficult to label and still sound something like Talking Heads and Arcade Fire teaming up with Kraftwerk and Phil Spector. Or in the band's own confident words they sound like "something spectacular". Information is sparse so I have no idea who's hiding behind the band name (could be ordinary Joe's or some other band's side project), whether the band will ever play live, is closed to be signed etc. But I really like the songs which probably is what matters the most? Links taken down...
+ Innocence and Experience
+ Science is Religion
+ Secrets of the State

Oliver North Boy Choir has recorded a cover version of the disco classic Yes Sir, I Can Boogie. The song can be streamed at the band's Myspace profile and after a few listens I really started enjoying it!

Swedish synth pop trio This Vision has uploaded a new track name Untitled to Myspace. Accordingly the reason for this banal title is that finishing and mixing the track is taking forever, so the band has decided to upload the track as it is in its current version. A new/updated version will probably be available as some point (although this one IS already pretty good).
