A West End Pet Shop...

While on the treadmill last night I heard this one and suddenly my brain started wandering and took me back to late 1985 remembering school, dates, friends and those great times we had back then. At the same time (still on the treadmill and soaked in sweat) I couldn’t help imagining how fantastic it would be if I indeed was back in 1985 and my body was 16 once again!

The sun is shining...

The weather is really lovely today, and a few minutes ago a couple of dogs were barking outside my open office window, which immediately made me think of this one - grrrr woof woof...

UK pop combo Play People (I seriously have no clue who’s hiding behind this alias) has uploaded a third freebie to Myspace. A bit slow paced compared to the previous ones, but still impressively catchy.
+ She Knew

This has already been reported several times (by other blogs), but still worth repeating that the new album by The Radio Dept. will be out September 10. To be called Clinging to a Scheme.

On the radio this morning...

...and it sure helped make the start of today a good one!

Every morning when eating breakfast the radio is on, and from time to time it does happen that some really fine stuff is aired, thus helping to make the start of the day a good one. The “On the radio this morning” posts are an attempt to make your start a good one as well!

Friday stew...

A promo copy of the From St Saviour to Quickwell album by My Raining Stars is spinning merrily in the CD player today. Don’t know if the band members have been on a study trip to Sweden or simply have Swedish blood in their veins, but the album is packed with those appealing and guitar driven indie pop tunes that we’d normally expect to origin from our eastern neighbour country. I can only recommend that you get yourself a copy of the album, but I really can’t tell you how to do it, as no purchasing information is available (though sending them a message should probably do?).

The new One Weekly Gun track is finally up for grabs.

Chris takes us on yet another trip down memory lane in this week's Flashback Friday edition. I was 18 when the cover of Always On My Mind was released, and being a huge Pet Shop Boys fan back in those days, I quickly ran out and bought every 12” version of the single I could get my hands on. If you come by some day, we could try searching for them in the attic.

In a cyclone of stones informs us that new songs by Bakers At Dawn have been posted. This is lovely indie stuff as always.

Via Swedesplease I've come across this cover version of Out of Touch by The Mexicos. I happily admit to liking the Hall and Oates original, but isn't this new version a bit “synthetic”?

It's Friday...

Yep it’s Friday and there is one thing that you always have to do on Fridays; check the Flashback Friday post over at Music of the Moment. Especially if you’re a nostalgic, gray-haired, middle-aged creature like yours truly, and still remember, cherish and worship those good old days in the 80's, where you had to buy 3 different 12” versions of every Pet Shop Boys and Erasure single, just to make sure that you had all the remixes (even though you never bothered listening to them). And since Love Comes Quickly by PSB is today’s flashback dish (anyone remember Shep Pettibone?), I once again have to urge you to check out Chris’ string of fantastic posts. Just to prove that I was a fanatic back then, I even bought that baseball cap! I probably believed that it made me look like Chris Lowe?

Speaking of remixes. Norwegian band Lorraine is giving away an extensive MHC remix of the previously unreleased track Beautiful Thing. Quite coincidentally is does sound very Pet Shop Boyish.
