One-liners...

Vote for the best Danish album ever (or so they say).

Apparently Club 8 is big in Japan Indonesia.

Sorry, but I'm not going to accept your invitation to connect on Linkedin.

Finished watching the first season of Orange Is the New Black last night, so now what?

Going to stream the new album Adagio by 4 Guys From The Future today and I expect it to be awesome!

Streamed the new Arcade Fire yesterday and was slightly disappointed not to be blown away.

Will give it more tries though.

Sort of bended the unwritten rules of this post, by posting that second line on Arcade Fire.

The jangling new track by The Electric Pop Group from the A Sunday Matinée compilation is now up for streaming.

And the equally jangling track from Pale Sunday is up there as well.

This new video (and song) from Danish electro-pop trio Odd Collection is pretty cool.

Soundcloud...

Two remixes...

Really busy at work these days so no time at all for typing. Have to share these two pretty fine remixes...

Shorties...

I know these shorties and video posts suck, but it’s really the best I can come up with these days. Call it lack of inspiration call it whatever you like. Sorry! But that’s how things are right now!!

Canadian quartet (!) Jon and Roy share a track from their forthcoming album Homes.
+ Boon ‘Elm

Don’t forget to download the first EardrumsPop single. It’s by Tiny Fireflies, it’s free and it’s just brilliant!

As stated last week (and numerous times before); no one does it better than Labrador. 7” single Closer Now by Club 8 will be out on November 23 (according to the promo mail and not December as written on the Labrador site) and of course the label offers the lead track as a free download!
+ Closer Now

Socio Peruvian pop musician Francois Peglau has put out his album The Imminent Failure of Francois Peglau via BandCamp and shares this track as an appetizer!
+ You know we won’t make it (if you come around)

Here’s a really nice but rather odd-titled freebie by Bubblegum Lemonade.

Hamburg etc....

Hamburg was great. We arrived late Friday afternoon and left early (11 a.m. isn’t exactly early I know, but it did feel like it was real early) Sunday morning. Summed up we spent our time on walking and walking, “flying”, eating, drinking, dancing and sleeping (approx 3 hours per night). The weather was superb, which made us feel incredibly lucky, as it was pouring down Friday morning and the entire Sunday. Already looking forward to my next visit.

The line-up for this year’s Indietracks looks intriguing as always, but unfortunately I won’t be going this year either, as I’ll be in Austria on holiday at that time. Would especially love to see (and hear) Clint of Play People, who’s going to play an acoustic set. Could be the only chance ever to hear the glorious pop songs of Play People being performed live, plus it should finally be revealed who’s hiding behind the alias!
+ Going Out
+ Oh What A Life...

Here's the new single by Club 8 fresh from the mailbox...
+ Shape Up!

Sipping Champagne at the Radio Club...

Cannot recall ever being this tense and alert, as I spent the past weekend constantly monitoring the web for any (and I really mean any!) information regarding tickets for The Radio Dept. concert on May 15. Not that I was expecting to find any news, as tickets never go on sale during weekends, but nonetheless I was pathetically anxious. Predictably tickets became available this morning and now that tickets have been purchased, it’s high time to return to being my old self.

Despite another two months left until it's officially released, it does seem like Clinging To A Scheme has leaked? Whether or not it is in fact the album is obviously impossible to determine, but the songs (the two promo tracks aside) are all new to me, so it could very well be that this is indeed the album (if so - why not release it now?). Unless of course some prankster is pulling our legs! Leak or not! I’m definitely going to buy the album!

And those, I promise, will be the last words on The Radio Dept. for a good while.

+ Heaven's On Fire

Label mates Club 8 shares new single Western Hospitality. Sure it’s really nice, but each time I listen to it, I can’t help thinking of this one. Though I’m probably the only one who can hear any similarities!
+ Western Hospitality

New track Ingrid Bergman by Champagne Riot is now streaming at Myspace. As previously mentioned it is Stefan of Northern Portrait, who does the singing, and the result of this highly intriguing collaboration is an absolutely glorious pop tune. A video for the song is in the making, but when/if the track will be released remains unresolved for now (or at least has not been made public). Though Shelflife or Matinée seem like real good and fairly obvious bets (just trying to stir up some rumors)! Don't you think?

Swedish shorties..

A few songs from the inbox.

Minneapolis-based quartet Love In October isn't really Swedish, but two of the band members are Swedish natives, so I believe it's OK to consider the band being at least half-Swedish. The album Pontus, The Devil and Me, was out last month and judging from the two promo tracks below, it could very well be an indie/alternative rock album worth checking out.
+ Circa 1969
+ I Dream Of Marie Antoinette

Jimahl
's nearly 8 minutes long remix of Jesus, walk with me by Club 8 is simply superb. Close your eyes, chill-out and make the world stop. 8 minutes later I bet you'll be rejuvenated.
+ Jesus, walk with me (Remix by Jimahl)

The fine Moto Boy single Young Love (released on Songs I wish I has written) has been remixed by Chris Price, whose album Post Pop Parade I embarrassingly forgot to write about last year, despite all my promises and good intentions. As a small consolation I've re-posted the haunting and somewhat New Order inspired And She Was.

Music, Music, Music...

Beirut was one of the most popular artists in the bloggerworld last year and now the track A Sunday Smile from the forthcoming album The Flying Club Cup (to be released October 9) is available as a free download from his webpage. Time will tell if the world needs more Balkan inspired trumpets, mandolins, accordions etc., but for every listen I certainly like his music more and more (thanks Jonas!).
+ A Sunday Smile

Swedish 5-piece Radio LXMBRG definitely belongs to a completely different genre, but still the band's 80's inspired electro/pop sound is very appealing (I'm a sucker for that stuff). New track Score On The Floor is a freebie over at Myspace and is taken from the forthcoming album Trivial Matters (to be released September 12).
+ Score On The Floor

And of course you shouldn't miss (and of course you haven't) the new single by Club 8. Gorgeous indie pop!
+ Heaven

This week (and this week only) it's possible to stream the new Baby Cool EP by Oliver North Boy Choir over at Myspace. As always this is wonderful stuff and once again I cannot help hoping that the band will change its strategy, so we all get a chance to buy an album and to see them live.

Victor Silveira has remixed the DAMPFBAHN! track All Is Swell. Stream it here. Should add that it's pretty cool!

Friday evening blogging...

This just as a precaution before rumors start circulating. NO – today’s post on doping doesn’t spell a new beginning for Hits In The Car. This is and will remain a blog focusing on music, though it probably won’t be the last time that I will be tempted to touch other subjects!

May was the most successful month in the history of the blog with nearly 13,000 visits and 20,000 page views. Thanks a bundle to all who visited and please, please remember to come back some other time. Unfortunately I don’t think that the growing number is due to the fact that the blog’s popularity is rising. Instead I believe it has a lot more to do with the increasing interest in music blogs in general.

This blog has quietly turned into one of my favorites. It’s written in Danish; it's not updated very often and only features a few posts on music. Instead it's the perfect place to go, if you want to be updated on news about the murder of JFK.

Back again after a lengthy break. First I had to put the kids to bed and then I had to do some push-ups, sit-ups and back exercises. I’m certainly no fitness freak, but the past few months, as my physical shape has been getting worse and worse, my back has started troubling me again. So the days of bad excuses and laziness are over, and it’s time to get back in shape. And to celebrate my initiative I’ve rewarded myself a nice cold Brooklyn Brown Ale! One step forward and two steps back I guess?

FALK continues recommending interesting music. Earlier today he sent me a suggestion that I should listen to German indie/alternative rock band Steep. Pretty cool track Like This that is taken from the 2007 album Your Reality, has found a lot of inspiration in bands like Coldplay, Muse and Snow Patrol.

The lovely new Club 8 single Whatever You Want is now available for free from the fantastic Labrador label.

Gotta love this one. Swedish duo Sleepwalk (a collaboration of Mr. Sidewalk and Tiny Well-Placed Bleep) has recorded a track called Disco From Italy that is...you guessed it...influenced/inspired by Italo Disco. 20 years ago I would have run down to the local record store begging them to immediately order the 12" version!
