I certainly hope that the new Spleen United album Neanderthal is a grower, because after one listen I’m somewhat disappointed. But if I remember correctly I wasn’t really overwhelmed by the debut to begin with either.
Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet gives the album 3 out of 6 stars, but in the very same review they also talk about the album View From A Highwire by debuting Danish act The Romanian Empire, which gets 4 stars. First single Criminal is surprisingly cool and according to the band itself the music sounds like a hybrid of Flaming lips, Radiohead, Deus and Beck, but check them out and decide that for yourself.

The Papertiger Sound amazingly continues producing new music and yesterday the band released the magnificent online single magnetic north, which of course is available to download for free. It remains one big mystery why this band hasn’t been signed to a label.

First release of the year by Swedish label Sudd is a collection of remixes by Fujasaki called ReMixtape (download as zip file).

Tired Tuesday (once again)
Download new song At Least I'm Honest [mp3] by Tiger Baby. Found via It's A Trap ("at least I'm honest!").
The album hca by Swedish electronic/instrumental act Fujasaki is released today on Sudd. This is really not my type of music at all, but the two tracks below are pretty cool and very catchy!
Boston Revisited [mp3]
You Never Left An Airport Happy pt. 2 [mp3]
The debut album by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah received lots of positive reviews at the time of its release. Now that I've (finally) listened to it, it's not difficult to understand why. It really is very good!
Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood [mp3]
Over and Over Again (Lost & Found) [mp3]
My Current Favorites list needs to be updated. Hopefully I'll do that tomorrow.....

I think I’ve mentioned this a few times before, but one of the real cool things about having a blog is that you every once in a while get contacted by people, who asks you to listen to their music or to the music by one of the artists they are promoting. The other day I received a mail from the boys from sudd.org, which included the link for the new single called Stay (MP3) by Fujasaki featuring Björn Kleinhenz on vocal.
I’m not all that unfamiliar with Björn Kleinhenz (neither should you be), since he is the lead singer of Memoplay. Fujasaki on the other hand is more unknown territory; though I’ve previously heard a few tracks by the band that I didn’t enjoy (boring instrumental Electronica).
And the single is, as you could expect, an electronic kind of thing, but combined with the foot tapping beat, the rather catchy melody and the (almost) fragile voice of Björn, it turns out to be a real positive experience.
Björn Kleinhenz seems to be a rather productive guy and he frequently collaborates with other artists. However my wish for Christmas will be that he and Adam Svanell put more focus on the Memoplay project, because I'd really love to hear more from those guys!
