Lidt løst og fast...

Det er bedre at skrive på dansk. Meget bedre!

Darn, dang, dammit...

I know I’ve written this so many times that it’s beyond tedious. But nonetheless I’m happily going to repeat myself and utter to the world “I receive far too many emails”! Reading, listening, deleting and every once in while replying and posting eats up far too much of what precious little time I can dedicate to this blog. Consequently it has happens more and more often that I take a quick look at the mailbox, shake my head and sigh “not tonight baby…” So the mails from those days probably never will get a closer look meaning that there’s an outside chance of something interesting eluding me. Obviously I cannot tell how often it happens, as I normally just delete the unread mails after some time, but when I, as I just did today, finally find some time to check out older mails and discover a message from one of my recent favourite bands, I feel rather pissed off…and all my rage is turned toward the many, many promoters, bands etc. jamming my inbox with their useless garbage and thus drowning the very few interesting mails that happen to come my way! The email causing this outburst was mailed on September 28 informing that Psychic Powers had put out a free to download virtual 7” single on EverythingIsChemical. And though the track isn’t among their better ones (too long, too electronic and not quite catchy enough) and never would have fitted in on the band’s smashing debut album, I still feel devastated to have missed out on this release by nearly two months…watch out for an updated spam filter…

Various...

Psychic Powers has announced that the band’s stunning debut Infinity will see a physical release on CD via Dryden St. (yay!). No information available on when it's out and how to order it…yet!

The drooling continues. Check this excellent (and rather classic indie pop) track by Persian Rugs; another band performing at NYC Popfest in May. In May as well the band's debut (?) single Always All will be out on 7" vinyl via Cloudberry Records.

Posted new track 1987 by Starring Me the other day, but what I didn’t know back then was that an album seems to be in the making. I recommend that you follow the band on Facebook and stay informed, instead of relying on my most unreliable updates.

Warpaint shares this remix of Undertow. Pretty weak, isn’t it? But at least it provides me with the opportunity to post the epic original version.

Various...

A short of apology to all of those mailing me their promo stuff. At 10 a.m. I had exactly 3,971 mails in my inbox, so the chances of me ever reading your mails are…well…slim. And even smaller that you'll ever hear anything (good or bad) back from me! I’m sorry if I’m wasting your time, but that’s how things are and how they will (most likely) remain!

One of my current favorite tracks; Flowers Bloom by High Highs; is doing terribly well on the Hypem popular songs chart. Go heart it!

I’ve spent a large part of the past 24 hours thoroughly enjoying the Psychic Powers debut Infinity. One complaint though! Why didn’t they include this terrific RAC remix of Dreamboat? Could have been the perfect bonus track!

News of the day...

And not just any kind, but some downright fantastic news! The stunningly brilliant Psychic Powers has finally released their debut album Infinity and it's available via iTunes. Go buy it...NOW! I know I will! A handful of earlier recordings are still free to grab from RCRD LBL.

Friday...

Lots of mails to read and plenty of music to listen to. Sadly there’s some real life work that needs to be taken care of as well, but I won’t let that stop me and plan to update this post from time to time during the day.

Right now I’m busy streaming the Psychic Powers Live Dublab “Sprout Session” (mp3). Still awaiting (some kind/any kind of) news on when the band’s debut album will be released. In February last year they announced that the album was done and in March they added that the album was going to be called Infinity. So what exactly are you guys waiting for? This is pure torture you know!

Need to check out the new single Get In Line (via Pitchfork) by I'm From Barcelona...any good? Summerlike and nice, so I guess it's pretty much as one would expect?

White LiesIs Love has been overhauled by Stereolab. Arguably the best remix I’ve heard so far of any track off Ritual, as you can actually recognize the song!

German blog Mittsommernachtsspitzen has been added to the blogroll. Cannot say I understand much of the content (never paid much attention in German class), but the blog does feature some fairly interesting artists!

What the world is waiting for? Not quite sure! But definitely good news that Jonathan Johansson will release a new single in February followed by an album in March!

The forthcoming Champagne Riot Moonstruck EP is now available for preordering from the Matinée Recordings site. It will be a four track affair and the fact that ace song Ingrid Bergman won’t be included made me post my dissatisfaction at the Matinée Facebook page. Matinée countered and replied “Don't worry - we have even grander plans for Ingrid!”, which made me fell all stupid, because Jimmy obviously knows a great song when he hears one and won’t waste this grand opportunity to release it. Sorry for questioning your plans, instincts, judgment etc.! I promise it won’t ever happen again!

Lately I've been...

…listening a lot to I Am Kloot. The main purpose was to check out Sky At Night, but instead I’ve spent most of the time reacquainting myself with the superior Natural History.

…enjoying the new Bright Eyes track Shell Games. It’s free, it’s good and has rather unexpectedly made me look forward to his new album The People’s Key.

…thrilled to learn that Under Electric Light is about to release his debut album. Will be out in Japan (only) on Fastcut Records on February 16. Said to be released in Europe and North America as well some time later this spring.

…listening to the forthcoming single of one of my favorite Danish band. I’m afraid that’s all I’m able to reveal at this moment except perhaps that it’s a very Blur-inspired thing.

…checking out the new Secret Shine album The Beginning And The End. Been ages since I’ve listened to some proper shoegaze!

Shorties...

Today is only a half working day, so I better do this short, as I have a sinister suspicion that they expect some work from me today!

Emerald Park frontman Tobias Borelius shares a track from his upcoming solo album album name Du känner mig för väl, farväl. It’s in Swedish and it’s good!
+ Hiro

Me like the new Iron & Wine track Tree By The River. It can be yours for the price of an (not just any, but yours) e-mail address.

Last night I tried to grab the free to download Walls Hold Me Remix of recent White Lies single Bigger Than Us, but only available for UK residents. Fuck!

Danish electro-pop trio Tiger Baby shares the Xmas 2010 edit of new track You, which will be included on their forthcoming album. It's business as usual when it comes to Tiger Baby, as the song is dreamy, catchy and totally brilliant!
+ You (Xmas 2010 edit)

The “kickstart The Blueflowers new album” project is progressing well. With 46 days to go $847 of the $1,000 goal has been pledged.

Check this really fine RAC remix for the new Psychic Powers single Dreamboat.

Sunday music...

Some music and a few (very few) words.

+ Psychic Powers - Brighter
Excellent track sounding like something that could have been released by Sarah Records.

+ The Felts - Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode cover)
Pretty good cover, though I doubt this is a track anyone could ruin.

+ Mariage Blanc - Whatever You Say I AmThese lads write seriously catchy songs.

+ Bleeding Heart Narrative - Perun
So unbelievably cool, but people at last.fm seem to have some difficulties tagging the band!

+ California Wives - Purple
Stupid band name, but a great indie-pop-post-punk-new-wave (somewhere in-between) song!
