Shorts...

A few more hours and it's weekend. Though I hardly drank any alcohol, I'm still trying to recover from that trip to London.

Think I've listen to the I Like Trains track I posted earlier today at least 30 times. It really is that fabulous...

Because a few of you said so, I actually bothered and gave the new album by The Shins a few listens. No exactly impressed, but promise to invest more time in it!

Musik I Lejet keeps adding new interesting names to the line-up and recent additions include Stoffer og Maskinen and old blog favorite Jonas Breum.

The self-titled debut album by Death Valley Sleepers is now available from iTunes. Need to get myself a copy, but will have to do it from home (no iTunes at work). Quite curious to hear the end result and if it's been possible to improve the demo versions...

This and whole lot of that...

Have exactly 11,794 mails in the inbox. Don’t think I’ll ever get to the bottom of it. Decided to delete 600 mails earlier today just to make something happen. Some of them were from 2010! Remain terribly sorry if you’re still awaiting my reply...

On Tuesday it’s two weeks since I returned from the Marathon trip to Rome. On Tuesday I’m off on my next trip visiting London with the family. This will be the first time I’ll see London in “children’s height”. Should be interesting, though of course this means Hamleys, no concerts and only the occasional pint.

Heard Simple Song by The Shins on the radio this morning. Still think it’s a rather phenomenal song, but have felt no urge to check out their new album. Don’t know why, but I just haven’t. No one leaves comments around here anymore, so I feel safe promising that if anyone (just anyone) posts a comment saying I really should...I will!

DR/P3 premiered the video for the truly gorgeous Easter Island by The Eclectic Moniker yesterday. I couldn’t and still cannot make it work, but it’s there. Perhaps you can?

Some interesting new music popping is up – in the mailbox and around the web.

Perhaps more interesting than actually good is the debut solo single Når Lysene Går Ud by The William Blakes frontman Kristian Leth. Obviously interesting because he's singing in Danish. Compared to The Smiths by some, which I don't quite get. Except perharss that the title means "When the lights go out"? Stream it at Soundvenue.

The new single Night Comes Out by The Raveonettes is brilliant. Sounds very “Raveonettes-esque”, so not much new there. Yours for an email (hope the link is working?)!

Stumbled upon Farewell Decade by Desert Stars in the mailbox some time ago, because they promoted themselves as a shoegaze/dream-pop band. Their music doesn’t exactly fit those genres if you ask me, but the song has a nice 60’s pop feel to it…and I like that!

Simple song...

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock under living in a cage, you should know by now that The Shins premiered a new song the other day. So I’m not pretending this to be some sort of “breaking new” post, but instead rather a “yet another blogger posting the same shit as everyone else” kind of post. However as a blogger I do believe (at least I think I read that somewhere ages ago) that it’s important to voice your opinion from time to time. Also even though, your opinion can be summed up in one word; fantastic. Or perhaps maybe two words; bloody fantastic. So basically what I’m trying to say here is; the new song by The Shins is bloody fantastic and by no means just a “simple song”. Period!

Sleeping Lessons at the Slowmotion Club...

Yesterday I was contacted by Swedish indie pop trio Slowmotion Club asking me politely (in Swedish) to listen to their recently recorded 4-track EP Tiny Dots. And who can resist an offer like that? I couldn't because, as we all know, I have quite a passion for Swedish indie pop. So off I went to the band's myspace profile and gave them a good listen, which then lead me to send a message back to the band asking for permission to post one of the new tracks. The Gun In God's Hand is, despite its dark lyrics, yet another charming and catchy pop song coming out of Sweden (how many times have I written this before?) and I guess the real surprise here is that Slowmotion Club does not come from the "indie pop capital" Gothenburg.

It has happened more than once that I've been wondering why certain songs were remixed, because the so-called remixes have completely ruined the track and made it almost unrecognizable. So the reason why I've recently posted a few mixes created by RAC (Remix Artist Collective) is probably the exact opposite. I like the way new dimensions are being added to the tracks, while still being true to the original versions. As is the case with this lovely remix of (the already wonderful) Sleeping Lessons by The Shins.

Finally lots of thanks to all of you who posted comments yesterday or sent an e-mail wishing me good luck. It was (and still is) much appreciated!

Busy Tuesday...

Only have time to post a few one-(or perhaps two-) liners.

Found the track Paragraphs Relentless by Dälek in the mailbox this morning. I normally don't like this type of music at all (mix of Hip-Hop and Rap), but to my big surprised I really enjoy this one!

Talking about dislikes. I hate it when bands and albums are being (over-)hyped, but I really, really like Wincing The Night Away by The Shins.

Chris meets Blackfield.

Peter has posted a new (at least it's new to me) and excellent track by EPO-555. EPO-555 spin-off Oliver North Choir will release their 4 track debut single (download only) on Sunday (March 4). I've had the pleasure to listen to all 4 tracks and it's brilliant stuff!
+ Something New (demo version)

Finnish alternative rock band Tinker has uploaded 3 new demo tracks to Myspace. I've only listened to them once so far, but they sounded pretty cool.
