When I kill my sleep...

Born in good shape...

Don't like the trend here...another working day and once again there's plenty of work that needs to be done...hopefully there will time for some catching up later this week...meanwhile; check out this new track by tung_nem...

This and that...

The Azure Blue debut album Rule of Thirds is out today...stream the whole thing on SoundCloud...incredibly catchy stuff...
+ The Catcher In The Rye

Socio Peruvian pop musician Francois Peglau shares new track Lonesome Café. Good one!

Been a while, but seems like my filehost boxstr.net is (sort of) working again (crossing fingers)!

Danish favorites tung_nem has posted a new track called Evident...not one of their best tracks I'm afraid!
Evident by tung_nem

New band on my radar is UK duo The Approval...normally something I'd shy away from as it perhaps looks a little too "boy bandish" and the lads definitely have "poster boy" potential...but the duo's (free to download) EP Time Will Tell contains some really charming pop tunes, so I'll be a fan for now before they are discovered by the teenage hordes...
+ Hide & Seek

Datsyuk hasn't had the best start to the new (NHL) season, but luckily his namesake (obviously called) Datsyuk continues to record nice dreamy electronic pop tunes.
+ Turquoise (Ft. Derek Coburn)

Sparks and flames...

Two quick thoughts on last night’s concert; it wasn’t a waste of time, but still plenty of work left before White Lies becomes a great live act. So don’t expect to see me queuing outside the ticket office to get tickets for their next tour. And despite my recent approval, the songs on Ritual are beyond doubt weaker than the ones on the debut, as the concert reached a completely different level (Bigger Than Us aside), when the band performed songs from To lose My Life.

Bumped into Tobias of Death Valley Sleepers at the concert and had a (real) quick chat. I obviously wanted news on the band’s debut album and it sounds like it’s imminent…
+ Black Pearl

Check this new track Every Spark Deserves A Flame by Danish synth-rock trio tung_nem. I’ve featured the band a number of times and it’s beyond me how they stay unnoticed.

Have to catch Sleep Party People live someday soon. Has to be an absolutely mind-blowing experience watching five “rabbits” performing music? Here's a live version of brand new (maybe even unfinished?) track We Were Drifting On A Sad Song.

Posting...

...will hopefully resume tomorrow. Meanwhile enjoy these two (fairly) new and really fine tracks by Danish electro-synth-rock trio tung_nem. A few more words about these tomorrow! If you haven't, I strongly suggest you check out the previous recordings by the band. All compiled in this post from March last year...

From the mailbox...

The laziness continues and this is another post with very little content. But I seriously need to clean out the mailbox (+2,600 mails in the inbox) and that’s exactly what I plan to do today. Interesting stuff will be posted, so check back for updates.

+ Sensual Harassment - Fever
Irresistible uptempo new-wave inspired pop tune that will (or least ought to) fill the dance floors everywhere!

Of course - don't forget to download the new track Lights by Interpol. Though it can hardly be called one of the band's more interesting outputs!

+ Simian Ghost - Star Receiver
Nice debut single from this electric pop project fronted by Sebastian of Aerial.

+ Virgo Rising - Upon a Kiss
Shoegaze band recommended by J.A.

As always some of the stuff is so ridiculously bad that I completely fail to understand why it is promoted...

Not exactly from the mailbox, but I just learned the tung_nem will be playing at this year's Start! Festival. And just like that the Festival became a lot more interesting!
+ New Perfection

More later…???

Leap of Faith...

More news from excellent Danish trio tung_nem. The track Leap of Faith has received a "slight makeover" and a video for the song has been shot. Do remember to check out the "entire" back catalogue.

Ruined by Martin vs tung_nem...

As was promised last week here’s a post containing every song ever recorded by Ruined by Martin as well as the four new songs by the “offspring” tung_nem. In an attempt to give you the best possible impression of the musical transformation the band has gone through, I’ve tried to list the songs chronologically. Plus mentioned the number of people involved in the project at the time of the various recordings, with lead singer Martin Arnholt being the only recurring band member. But as you can see some information and songs are missing, so I guess I need to ask the band to supervise the list.

Ruined by Martin (?-2009):
+ Gin Fizz (duo - 2005)
+ Skyscraper (duo - 2005)
+ C&C Delight (duo - 2005)
+ Fight Song (duo - 2005)
+ Burn The Sun (trio - December 2005)
+ Perfect Sense (May 2006)
+ Dear Reo (trio - September 2006)
+ Somewhere (December 2006)
+ In Search Of (?? 2006)
+ Witness of Sci Fi (?? 2006)
+ Start (?? 2006)
+ Kaiser Star (September 2007)
+ Defy The Odds (February 2008)
+ Seven Years (April 2008)
+ Untouchable (October 2008)
+ Self Assured (quartet - January 2009)
+ Ex-Believer (quartet - May 2009)
+ Sub Intelligence (quartet - September 2009)
+ Scissor Paper Rock (quartet - September 2009)

tung_nem (trio - 2010-?):
+ Leap of Faith
+ New Perfection
+ Self Assured
+ You Might Make It

tung_nem...

Now here’s a band that I’ve never really been able to figure out. When I first heard about Ruined by Martin in December 2005 the duo (as it was back then) played catchy electronic influenced pop music, and having just been picked as Demo band of the month by Gaffa the future looked incredibly bright. That was exactly 4 years and two months ago (or 50 months if you like) and since then the band has seen a number of line-up changes and managed to be absent for lengthy periods of times; and then each time, just as I began fearing the we’d never hear from the band again, they returned with songs sounding better than anything previously recorded. And each time, the band had moved one step further towards a darker, more electronic, less catchy and perhaps even depressing sound, thus showing them constantly developing their musical approach and not being afraid of walking new paths. Logically every return gave hopes that now was the time that their career would kick-off, but sadly history kept repeating itself. Whether or not this will once again be the case, only time can tell, but two days ago the band was heard from again for the first time since September last year. And this time the band is not only retuning with a batch of fine new songs (the march towards a darker universe continues), but more importantly with a new band name - tung_nem. A decision taken by the band as a consequence of the musical transformation the band has gone through and the musical relationship with Ruined by Martin becoming more and more distant. So in the future there’ll be no more news or music to post from RbM, but hopefully plenty of stuff from tung_nem? Unless of course the band decides to pull another disappearing act! Let’s hope not!
+ Leap of Faith
+ New Perfection
+ Self Assured
+ You Might Make It
