A boiling kettle...

Not sure what to make of the new Korallreven single Sa Sa Samoa. It will probably works fine as part of the band's soon to be released debut album, but as a standalone track it just doesn’t. Or what does anyone think?

Thank you Mr. Villumsen for introducing me to Blind Pilot. How on earth did I miss out on this band?

Have listened to the forthcoming Balloon Magic debut EP a couple of times this morning. Do I need to say that it sounds absolutely fantastic?

New interesting Danish band on my radar is Den Fjerde Væg. Singing in Danish and describing their music as mix of Animal Collective and XTC. The three track debut EP Glittertårer is available for free via bandcamp.

Ordered this cool t-shirt the other day. My old Cause & Effect t-shirt has been in the washing machine a few too many times, so it was definitely time to buy a new one!

Shorts...

A Classic Education shares another track from the band's forthcoming album.

Pavel Datsyuk is one of the world's best (if not the best) hockey players. Datsyuk also happens to be the name of a new duo writing dreamy electronic tunes.
+ Suicide Dreams

I know it's quite popular at the moment, but I honestly think that the new Korallreven track is a bit dull.

Play People has a new EP out on The Almighty Pop! today. Have only heard this ukulele version of the lead track.

Insomnia...

This week has been real terrible from a sleeping point of view. Perhaps it's a little too early to start talking about insomnia (so let’s call it sleep deprivation instead), but 3-4 hours of sleep a night really isn’t doing anything good for neither brain nor body. So if what I write today makes no or little sense (as if it ever does), you know now why!

Earlier this week I started deleting Myspace “friends” and the cleaning continues, as far too many useless artists post far too many repetitive (and useless) updates, thus cluttering the news/update stream and “drowning” the few useful ones that do pop up from time to time!

Cannot say that I was all that impressed by the live performance of Swedish trio (quartet) Liechtenstein at Copenhagen Popfest, but new track (lead track of the soon to be released single) Passion for Water is in fact a more than competent indie pop tune!

Just read this post over at Faronheit. Now there is a blog receiving exactly the same promo mails as I do (including the songs/remix featured below)! Check the post out and don’t forget to download the really fine Just Can't Sleep (Stupid Human Remix) by The Aikiu.

Last month I expressed my discontent with a remix of Korallreven’s Truest Faith. Now yet another remix has surfaced and though this isn’t even half as bad as the aforementioned remix attempt, it’s still rather weak when compared to the original version.

Labrador shares a second track by [ingenting] from the album Tomhet, idel tomhet. No band I can possibly think of captures the feel of summer better than [ingenting].

Plus these two summer favorites:

+ Släpp in solen

Speaking of summer favorites. Two years ago I predicted that the self-titled debut album by This Is Ivy League would be that year’s summer album. I guess it didn’t exactly turn out that way and since then things have been pretty quiet around the band. But who knows? Perhaps (and hopefully) another gem like this one is in the making?

From the mailbox...

Monster & The Beast is a new (though not brand new as claimed in the mail) track by Sad Day for Puppets taken from the band’s second album Pale Silver & Shiny Gold, which will be out on September 1. Somewhat noisy, really catchy, featuring a flute and with a female vocalist sounding like...?...someone please help me out on that one!
+ Monster & The Beast

Daybehavior shares this track taken from the band’s forthcoming album, which I’m told will be the band’s third! Reading the mail I somehow got the impression that I ought to be familiar with the band, but cannot say I am (or was at least). But the chilly, electronic, melancholic and dreamy City Lights could very well change that.
+ City Lights

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve posted this, but I’ll never (as in; no way, never, ever!) be a remix enthusiast. Of course it does happen that a remix breathes new life into a song, but those remixes are few and far between. Sadly most remixes are pretty close to unlistenable or (if I’m generous) plain boring and make me wonder why anyone thought them necessary. To exemplify what I’m trying to state, I’ve posted this awful remix of Korallreven’s Truest Faith, which I suggest you compare to the original (and absolutely lovely) version. If you somehow are capable of hearing (understanding, whatever), what I’m obviously unable to, do not hesitate to post a comment. I promise I’ll try my utmost to be open-minded!

Various...

US multi-person band Photons has gone on “indefinite hiatus”, which basically means that the band is no more. Shame really as the band wrote some wonderfully charming pop songs. And apparently I wasn't the only one who thought so!

Swedish indietronica trio Pistol Disco will be supporting The Radio Dept. at Vega on May 15. What a terrible band name, but hopefully their music will grow on me, as the first listen left me somewhat unimpressed. The 6 track EP Evergreen is free to download from the band’s webpage.

Speaking of The Radio Dept. Brilliant new single The Truest Faith by Swedish duo Korallreven is out now on Acephale Records as a vinyl only release limited to 500 copies.

Various...

Wasn’t able to keep my promise and post something yesterday, as we had a server breakdown at work. Therefore I couldn’t access any files and since all my music files are stored there, I was handcuffed. But since I couldn’t access any work files either, the situation was bearable.

I’m currently giving the song of Irish indie rock 5 piece Elspeth some good listens. Lots of potential and the influences ranging from Jeff Buckley over Radiohead to Manic Street Preachers really shines through. Definitely have to keep an eye out for this band. 6 songs are free to download at Soundcloud.

In late December The William Blakes frontman Kristian Leth wrote at his Facebook profile that he was going to celebrate New Year’s in Sweden as well as record a new The William Blakes album while being there. Unable to find any official information on this, but knowing the band’s rapid work pace, a new release is probably no more than a few months away? Admittedly this belongs to the category “rumors”, but since it “came directly from the horse’s mouth” there has to be some truth to it?
+ Violent God

Have you streamed the 4 new tracks by Sambassadeur? Pretty good ones, but compared to the band’s own standards they are somewhat underwhelming. First single Days of the forthcoming album European is certainly the best of the bunch.
+ Days

Check the track Loved-Up by Korallreven posted by the Shelfllife blog. Besides being a real fine track, I do think it’s quite interesting that the project includes one (or two?) member(s) of The Radio Dept.
