Shorties...

My head feels like a boiling kettle right now, so I’m not sure if I can post anything that will make sense to anyone (do I ever?). So I’ll just stick to one of these shorties posts today!

The music of one man band (that expression is plain stupid, but I cannot think of a better one) Kites With Lights, who’s responsible for the fine New Order cover I featured the other day, is rather uncomplicated indietronica/electro pop, but still worth checking out.
+ The Weight of your Heart

Occasional contributor Rodolfo has launched his own blog; Hidden Treasure.

The Matinée Recordings news page has been updated, but basically (and unfortunately) the news is that there isn't all that much to tell.

The Moto Boy website has a new look and to (perhaps) celebrate this, the Regina remix of Young Love is free to download.
+ Young Love (Regina remix)

Download two tracks by Danish "super"-group Ghost Society at RCRD LBL. Will be interesting to hear if this is any good?

The new album by The Raveonettes will be out 6 October and will be called In And Out Of Control.

Indonesians Sunny Summer Day has a lovely new track named In Summer Time streaming at Myspace. Beautiful indie pop and obviously recommended by J.A.

Testing...

As mentioned yesterday my normal filehosts are being blocked by the firewall, and no matter how pissed off I am, there’s exactly nothing I can do about it! So time to test a few alternatives and please let me know if things aren't working properly.

And the track chosen for this very unscientifically experiment is a cover of Ride’s Vapour Trail recorded live by friendly Indonesian indie pop five-piece Sunny Summer Day.

Shorties...

It's weekend!!

Indonesian indie pop band Sunny Summer Day is sharing a live version of this perfectly titled track.
+ Happy In The Summer

RAC covers Take On Me with some help from Karl Kling. Part of the REWIND project mentioned yesterday, and it's (mildly said) somewhat different from the original.
+ Take On Me (A-Ha cover)

UK indie label CatCutterRecords is giving away their Sketch For The Summer compilation for free. You can pick up the CD (still for free) from selected CD stores in the UK or just download it.
+ Foxes! - It's Ridiculous, Adam

Via It's A Trap comes word on the new summer single by Universal Poplab. A bit cheesy perhaps, but certainly charming and catchy.

This and that...

Thus ends the feuilleton. In May the sun shone for a total of 347 hours and became the sunniest month in Denmark since 1920. And if the weather forecast is to be trusted, the sun will continue to shine for the rest of the week and hopefully make this year’s Vesterbro Festival a much “dryer” experience than last year.

The second Northern Portrait EP Napoleon Sweetheart will be released in July. Opening track will be a re-edited and mastered version of I Give You Two Seconds To Entertain Me, which can now be streamed at Myspace.

June Song by Biker Boy has been published at Myspace and it's business as usual, so the track is free to download during the first week of the month.

Indonesian indie pop quartet Sunny Summer Day has just released a six track EP named Me, Myself & The Empty Soul on Letterbox Records. Promo track So Much Fun is yet another one of those enjoyable catchy pop songs that this band seems to be throwing our way in bunches.
+ So Much Fun

Songs I Wish I Had Written gives away another free single from the Moto Boy album. And a lovely new baby it is!
+ What it was like to be with you

Currently giving the Walter Meego album Voyager a good listen. Mix dance and disco in the big synth-driven pop blender and you'll probably end up with sweet pop music like this. Infectious to say the least and this is defintitely another candidate for the soundtrack of the summer.

Evening shorties...

The Google Page Rank of the blog has improved from 4 to 5. Very nice me thinks.

Want to listen to some yummy indie pop? Then stream the new track dan semua kan berubah by Indonesians Sunny Summer Day. You probably won't understand a word, but the melody is absolutely gorgeous.

For some reason I couldn't access blogger.com this afternoon. Still haven't figured out why, but everything seems to be working fine now.

Just received a message from NY shoegazer's Elika that they'll be sending me a promo copy of their new album Trying Got Us Nowhere. Perhaps mentioning Soundpool earlier today helped?

Listen to the first single from the forthcoming album by racingpaperplanes. The band is from Gothenburg and that's all you really need to know, to understand what we're dealing with!
+ In and out of coma

Seems like Suburbia will the second single from the Spleen United sophomore album Neanderthal. This is the video...

Colours of Fantasy...

Earlier today I posted a gorgeous indie pop track by Tellus About The Moon, and tonight it's time to post another one by an equally wonderful indie pop band; Sunny Summer Day. The Indonesian trio is currently giving away a new track called Colours of Fantasy and even though it will only be available as a free download for a limited period of time, the band has given me permission to post it in the blog. Back in September the band released a 3 track EP on Cloudberry Records and hopefully this lovely new recording indicates that more stuff is in the making!

4 songs...

I've mentioned Manchester quartet Kni9hts several times before in the blog and I'll continue doing so as I honestly believe that this must be the best unsigned band in the world today. Despite all my worries the band itself seems very confident that they will be signed any day soon and why shouldn't they be that? All of the 12 demo tracks (that's already an album worth of songs) I've heard so far are just excellent and sounds like something Doves would have been proud of recording! Below what I believe is a new demo track.
+ Day of the Dove

Indonesian quartet Sunny Summer Day must be the nicest band on the planet. The band members are always friendly and always appreciating the interest and blog mentioning. Add to this the charming indie pop the band creates, and you cannot help simply loving this band!
+ Blue Light Pollution

Finally the mere result of a few hours spent the other day listening to songs found in the mailbox. Lots and lots of garbage and the only decent ones were the two tracks posted below. Both of them rock along nicely, so they are definitely worth a listen, though I'm still baffled by the low quality of the rest of the stuff.

J.A. Recommends...

One could easily be fooled to believe that the weather would be so great in Spain these days that J.A. would have all kind of difficulties to find enough time to be searching for new music. However (or perhaps luckily) that doesn't seem to be the case (or he simply doesn't care about his suntan?), so this morning I found some nice recommendations in the mailbox.

Today I'll only post one of his recommendations and (the obvious reason aside that the music is really great) the main reason for picking this one is that the band has a perfect name - Sunny Summer Day. And since the sun IS shining today, what would be more perfect than to listen to a couple of great indie pop songs from this Indonesian band? Both tracks are demos recorded this year and some of the main influences include The Field Mice and The Stone Roses, so you should know what to expect. According to the band's Myspace page they are signed to a small US label called Little Pocket Records, but no information is available on any releases. But certainly worth keeping an eye on!
