I’ve learned that IFPI (who else?) was responsible for the complaint I mentioned yesterday. I’ve mailed them, but I seriously doubt that I’ll ever get any explanation.
Today is Bad Lieutenant day, as the band is giving away their new single Sink or Swim for free. You do have to enter your email address, but it's well worth it. In case you've never heard of Bad Lieutenant (well of course you have) it's the new band of ex-New Order frontman Bernard Sumner.
Unfortunately the new single Heavenly by The Storm pretty much destroy all hopes that the band’s sophomore album Black Luck will be any better than the debut.
Coincidence or? I mentioned Bodebrixen exactly two weeks ago and Wednesday a promo mail arrived. Full of the usual "yada yada", but also included the essential information that the album will be out October 12. Lovely new track Suit Your Needs can be streamed at Blaa Vinyl.
Trade a cloud picture for four new songs by Björn Kleinhenz. That's a fairly generous offer, isn't it? However I'm still dreaming that he'll someday reunite with Adam Svanell and record more songs for the really intriguing Memoplay project. But I'm afraid that I'll have to accept that this duo is all but dead. The fabulous 4 track EP is still free to download from Last.fm.

Someone Like Me...
Some of you probably agree that countless are the times where I’ve whined about the lack of quality of the music sent to me in various promo mails. And I’ve often asked myself why I even bother checking them out. But then suddenly out of the blue something pops up, which makes it all worthwhile. The most recent example is this energetic, anthemic and catchy track; Someone Like Me; by London quartet glass.ligths. It’s not like this is highly original and it does sound like something you’ve heard times and times before. I mean – it’s pretty obvious that we’re roaming around somewhere in the indie rock neighborhood of bands like Editors, Killers, Kaiser Chiefs etc., but this track has no problems holding its own. Actually it easily outdoes most of the stuff released by said artists. So I guess what I'm really trying to say is that this is a damn good one.+ Someone Like Me
An Entakt track which didn’t make the På Bagsiden Af Europa album will soon be free to download. It’s named Orkestret Med Det Blotlagte Skelet (which roughly translates to something like; The Orchestra with the Exposed Skeleton) and is said to be somewhat Tom Waits inspired. Check back for more information.
Loney, Dear will be playing at Lille Vega on April 5. Ticket has (of course) been bought.
+ I Am John
Those of us, who actually gave it a listen, probably agree that the debut album Where The Storm Meets The Ground by The Storm was a major disappointment? But the duo seems to be in good spirits and has recently announced that they will soon start recording a follow-up. However I do suspect that everyone’s expectations will be significantly lower this time around. To be honest I’d much rather hear news on the forthcoming Mew album.
+ The Beauty Of Small Things
Last week I posted a pretty good Dave Wrangler remix of the Animal Collective track My Girls. Mr. Wrangler has now set up a small webpage where several other fine remixes are free to download.
+ The Raveonettes - Black White (White Room Remix)
One Weekly Gun is back writing songs again. The first track of 2009 is named The Song that Kills and was inspired by the situation in the Gaza strip. Obviously this is a sensitive topic, which has already led to a heated discussion.

Shorties...
As some of you may have noticed, I’m testing a new banner. Created by Ryan Kennedy, who used to play drums in Birthday Boys, but is now lead singer in a new project named Rikers. So brand new it is, that the band's webpage has been up for less than 24 hours. His new project does sound a bit like Editors meeting U2 – doesn’t it?

Much talked about Danish duo The Storm are giving away the track The Beauty Of Small Things for free at Myspace. Don’t know for how long it’s been available, so this could very well be last month’s news. Anyway I’m surprised to see the band doing this, but perhaps it should be seen as a marketing response to the album’s lack of success? Good pick by the way, as this is easily the best track of Where The Storm Meets The Ground.
+ The Beauty Of Small Things
This morning it became painfully evident that no one at Danish Radio (P3) reads this blog, as they (once again) aired the annoying Don’t Get Me Wrong by Pretenders. Thought I explained two months ago that the song is utter crap.
The debut album Life After Ridge by Swedish twee/indie pop trio Twig is out today on Plastilina Records.
+ Helen of Troy
I’m still not high on that new moi Caprice track Love At Last Sight. The thing is now streamable at Myspace and apparently the title of the new album will be We Had Faces Then. Crossing everything possible that the album won't let me/us down! UPDATE! According to Gaffa the single will be free to download some time this week at Myspace.
An “The Electrical Barometer” update: Northern Portrait is still sitting firmly at no. 2, while Oliver North Boy Choir dropped 3 spots to no. 6. So please remember to vote!
I’m currently listening a lot to the new fine albums by Marching Band and Choir Of Young Believers. I’m hopeless at writing reviews, but I really ought to write something nice about both of them. On that same list are the new ones by Glasvegas and Noah and the Whale.
The new four-track EP Climbers & Ramblers by Danish indie pop/folk rock 5-piece Green Lives is pretty damn fine. Download the whole thing at Mymusic.dk or 3 tracks at Myspace.

This and that...
Yesterday's newsletter from Matinée Recordings promises another EP as well as a debut album from Northern Portrait. In the near term they say, whatever that means?
I'm not overly impressed by that new track by Coldplay. Are you? Grab it.
But I do like the new song by The Radio Dept. at lot. The new album will be out in September and hopefully I'll finally be able to catch them live some time later this year.
+ Freddie and the Trojan horse
If the Danish album chart is to be trusted The Storm has now sold (at least) 15,000 copies of the debut, which was thrashed by the press. However it seems glaringly obvious that no one really cares about those reviews, as the two highly appraised debut albums by BREUMM and The William Blakes never managed to crack the top 40.

Shorties...
A new track by One Weekly Gun is up.
+ There's a Glow
The new Karin Ström track Silent Night is everywhere. Here, here, here, here, here and here.
+ Silent Night
The Storm drops to no. 3 in the Danish album chart, but continues doing surprisingly well (who really cares about great reviews?)
Fine Danish blog emodreng & indiepige is back posting after taking most of February off.
Pop Tarts Suck Toasted has been added to the blogroll.
Forgot to mention yesterday that a brand new track by Northern Portrait is streaming at the band's Myspace profile. It's called The Operation Worked But The Patient Died and in their own words it's their most dramatic to date. Needless to say it's utterly brilliant.

Windy Friday...
My first thought was to call this post Stormy Friday (the weather report explains why), but apparently this also happens to be the name of some adult actress/dancer/performer/whatever, so I thought changing the title was the better solution, as I really don’t want this blog to be associated with that kind of stuff. It could be tempting though, as I believe those pages have multiple times more visitors than a humble music blog like mine.
Ruined by Martin has finally released a new track and once again it’s a dark, melodic and (most importantly) absolutely brilliant electronic pop tune. The boys are currently rehearsing and will hopefully announce some live dates very soon. New material has been written, but with their usual speed of work in mind, we probably won’t hear anything new until late 2009 (OK - I'm just kidding guys).
+ Defy the Odds
This week's song by One Weekly Gun.
+ Through Me
Does such a word as "neonlagkage" exist? According to Google it doesn't, but I just read it right here. And what a fantastic word it is!
The Storm "storms" into the Danish album chart at no. 2. After listening to the album a few times, it really isn't as bad as some reviewers would want us to believe. Far more interesting is the news that the Yoav debut album Charmed And Strange debuts at no. 33!
+ Club Thing (Ghislain Poirier Remix)
Tower of Foil sent out the great news yesterday that they are currently recording new songs. Download the entire back catalogue (well almost) right here.
+ Faster Than Your Eye
Angmoh - a new and really fine Danish music blog written in English - has been added to the blogroll.
Download the OF ALL THE THINGS WE'VE MADE - A Cyberspace Tribute To OMD right here. Thanks to J.A. for the info!!
Peter has already posted this, but I too should inform you that the lovely indietronica, shoegaze act The Papertiger Sound has a new brilliant EP out called Lost Tapes EP. And of course it's free to download, but you can make a small donation if you like.

The Mail Department...
I need to do something about my mailbox. I seriously do. +700 mails are residing there and it certainly doesn't look as if I'll be able to work my way through them any time soon. The mails can be divided into several promo mails, some blog comments, more promo mails, a few Facebook messages, another bunch of promo mails, numerous music recommendations received from Chris, Peter, Rodolfo and J.A. as well as (you've already guessed it) a few more promo mails.
If you happen to be a regular visitor, you probably know by now that I'm a fan of the Canadian blog Chromewaves and yesterday I found the great news there that The Radio Dept. will be releasing their third album in May. I guess I was one of the few living souls who actually thought that Pet Grief was better than Lesser Matters, so it will be quiet interesting to hear in which direction the band has decided to move this time. The info was published in the band's Myspace blog on February 6, which made me go through my list of blog supscriptions or more exactly those lacking.
+ Why Won't You Talk About It?
+ The Worst Taste In Music
Gaffa isn't exactly impressed by The Storm.
On February 18 the Velour album Undress Your Alibis will finally be released in Denmark. The timing isn't perfect as this is an album filled with the sound of summer. But the boys have been looking forward to this moment for more than two years, so I guess they cannot allow themselves to be too picky about the date.
+ If You Really Want Me
Danish electronic rock act VETO will release their second album (to be called Crushing Digits) on May 5.
+ You Are a Knife

Friday shorties...
My post from yesterday is still valid. Not much has changed, but your comments and suggestions were much appreciated. The "coffee in the computer" trick is still pending though ;-)
The (by some) highly anticipated debut album Where The Storm Meets The Ground by the ever-so pretentious The Storm will be released on Monday. The first couple of reviews indicate that the projected storm has turned into a somewhat short-lived breeze or more sardonically a "storm in a tea cup". Neither Soundvenue (2 out of 6 stars) nor Ekstra Bladet (3 out of 6) were able to hide their disappointment. It's still my plan to buy the album, so I can listen to it and judge it myself.
The "Richard Hawley til Danmark" Facebook group now has a staggering 48 members. However more supporters are still needed, so please join and support this noble cause!
Finally a new "Støj på Frekvensen" post is up. It's a remix edition, so check it out!
It's Friday and time for another Flashback Friday. Check back for the music files later today.
The lovely Danish indie pop band Passtime Poets has uploaded a few songs to Last.fm. This band is just brilliant, so please do give them a decent listen!
