Here's a great piece of news from Danish electro rock quartet Volvoe. The band has been quiet for a long, long time (thought it was appropriate to add an extra "long" compared to my previous mentioning of the band), but yesterday they announced that their debut album will be out some time this spring (or summer). The album will be named Black Doors and two tracks are now streaming on the band’s Myspace page. Plus a third track can be heard as well if you watch the video clip below. No news on the number of tracks and how the album will be released (self-release, label, download, CD etc.), but the three appetizers sound real promising, so chances should be pretty good that the album will be able to match the brilliant, but already 3 years old, Organized Faults EP (download links below).

This and that...
As mentioned in yesterday’s post, the new and final Oliver North Boy Choir EP Blackmail will be out February 22. As a small appetizer the band has decided to give away a so-called “synth version” of the lead track.
+ Blackmail (2nd version)
Danish electro-pop/rock act Volvoe has been awfully quiet for a long time, but news is that the recording of an album is progressing. Slowly, but progressing! The band’s 2007 EP Organized Faults was (and still is) a true, but sadly overlooked, gem.

1st single Miami off the forthcoming Green Concorde album Down The Corridor To The Exit Through The Gates Out Into Safety can now be streamed at Myspace. Does sound a little too much like previous stuff by the band, and I do think that Flowers Of Romance, which was the first track published off the album, is more interesting and better.
+ Flowers of Romance
Spinning off my post earlier today, one of my best and real-life friends hits 40 today. No party’s planned, so he’ll drop by for pizza and beers tonight. Unfortunately we cannot go out for pizza and beers, as I’ll have to stay home looking after the kids, because my wife is going to a…you guessed it…birthday party. Don’t know what is so special about February 6, but it seems like May is or was a great month for conceiving? My present for him will be a ticket for the White Lies concert as well as the band’s debut album.

Shorties...
I seriously need to get some speakers for this ancient computer at work. March Song by Biker Boy is now available to stream and download (for free during the first seven days of March) and for the aforementioned reason (no speakers equals no music) I haven’t listened to it yet. But hopefully it's just as excellent as the previous two tracks of this interesting and quite ambitious project.
It’s Band of Horses night tomorrow. Looking forward to see what I've read should be a very good live act. Also looking forward to meeting a few of the friendly lads from the Frekvens team.
+ The Funeral
You’re probably fed up by how I’m trying to hype Northern Portrait, but all I can say is get used to it. My copy of the Fallen Aristocracy EP arrived Saturday and I promise you that it will take you on a trip to indie pop heaven for12 minutes 20 seconds. Angmoh has posted one of the older tracks not on the EP.
Danish electronic pop/rock act Volvoe is looking for a new bass player. So if you live in Copenhagen (or somewhere close), are serious about your music, know how to play the bass etc. etc. – why not send the boys an email?

Spies on Holiday...
Just a few thoughts on the Spion/The Holiday Show double concert Friday evening.
Apparently 8 PM is too early to start a concert? Not that many people showed up, which was quite a shame. Though I don't really think I should complain about this, because it meant that there was plenty of room for everyone.
The Holiday Show delivered a fine performance. Unlike last year on Vesterbro the boys had time enough to do a sound check, so the band sounded a lot better than back then. The guys are actually taking a break right now (saying they are on Holiday, would sound like a stupid attempt at trying to be funny), but decided to take "a break from the break" to be able to play the concert. They seemed to have a great time performing, so I don't think they regret that decision at all. Afterwards I spoke briefly to Mads and Casper of the band and it seems like lots of positive things are happening. But we'll get back to that, whenever they are ready to share the news.
Second act Spion also gave a fine and energetic performance and certainly seemed to have a great time on stage, despite a few equipment problems. Luckily I got my hands on their newest demo and after listening to it during my drive home ("pump up the volume"), it is absolutely unbelievable that they haven't been signed to a record label.
In between the two acts I had the pleasure of speaking to Thomas of Volvoe. He admitted to be a regular visitor to the blog, so if you read this Thomas - It was really nice talking to you!!

Schallgrenzen Festival...
Some of you have probably noticed that I've added a new banner in the right column. On December 15 the Schallgrenzen Festival (labeled the "smallest festival of the world) will take place in Hildesheim, Germany and I thought I should do my best to support this great initiative; therefore the banner. The main attraction of the Festival will be the 3 (very good) Danish bands Volvoe, Late Night Venture and Windermere, with local support from Juli Kapelle. Unless something unforeseen happens I plan to be there and I know that I share those plans with fellow bloggers Chris (Music Of The Moment) and Peter (Coast Is Clear). The entrance fee will be €10, which to me seems like quite a bargain with this excellent line-up! So...expect to see YOU there!+ Windermere - There's A Sun

Monday, Monday, Monday
Saturday I finally picked up my copy of Neon Bible, but I had no time during the weekend to give it a proper listen. Today is the day and hopefully the album is a great as everyone seems to think?
+ Black Mirror
Every time I listen to No Cars Go I almost start singing "Hot Dog, Jumping Frog, Albuquerque". It's a great track, but very inspired/influenced by Prefab Sprout.
It's now possible to download the entire (and absolutely brilliant) Organized Faults EP by Danish Electro Pop band Volvoe over at Mymusic.dk.
+ These Moments
According to Last.fm I'm 20% mainstream!
Speaking of Last.fm. Here's a nice freebie found "over there".
+ Jumprope - Forget That Girl
Today should (I hope) be the last busy day at work for some time. Crossing my fingers and hoping the best.

Volvoe...
Last week I received a copy of the Organized Faults EP by Danish electro/power pop band Volvoe, and since then it has been a frequent guest in the car stereo. The EP has not been officially released but instead distributed to a lot of people in an attempt to put a little more focus on the band. And perhaps even better to catch the attention of the music industry in general. The long-term ambition/dream is (of course!) to be able to release a full-length album, and if the band continues to write attractive, interesting and catchy tunes like those on the EP, we should have an album to be looking forward to very soon. Below the excellent Remedy from the EP and you should check a PLAGUE of ANGELS if you'd like to hear two more tracks by the band.+ Remedy

New songs and some mixed stuff...
Below I've posted 5 new tracks found over at Myspace. The quality of the songs has indeed improved from the lowly 96 Kbps and the bitrates of the new songs are 128 Kbps or better. I still cannot figure out how to link directly to the songs (Chris is working on this), so I've had to upload the songs myself (hopefully no one minds?). The Myspace download function doesn't seem to be working perfectly, but hopefully they are trying to fix it, so we can return to "the good old days"!!!Shoegazers Tearwave from US has posted two new ones. The band has recorded a fine cover of The Church's Under The Milky Way and Read Me is a really great shoegaze inspired track (noisy guitars, dreamy vocals and stuff). A full length CD has been recorded and that one should be a "must".
+ Read Me
+ Under The Milky Way
Alaska (Chris' guinea pigs) from Sweden is one more band in the ever growing line of fantastic Swedish indie pop band. A new EP should be just around the corner, and hopefully the rest of the tracks are as good as these. Originally recommended to Chris and me by J.A.

Björn Kleinhenz is a real blogger "darling". No offence, as not only does he create great music, but he is also one of the musicians that seems to recognize the relevance of the music bloggers. AND the importance of giving away music for free! But I'd still love to know what has happened to Memoplay!?
+ Sing YEAH
Just found this new and absolutely wonderful indie pop tune by Indonesian band Annemarie over at Music Is My Girlfriend. The band's new album called ABC on TV will be released on Monday (19th).

aPLAGUE of ANGELS has a superb post on Danish indie/electronic act Volvoe.
I've added On The Trail Of The Great and Der Mondgucker to the blogroll.

Saturday Smorgasbord...
Volvoe are quite productive these days. Today the band has uploaded another new track (called Places) and (once again) it's a really great one!+ Places (Myspace "quality)
Via the Myspace profile of Volvoe I came across another interesting Danish band called The Latitudes. The band is less than a year old, but apparently several band members used to be in another band called The Mayfairs. The band lists The The among the influences and it's probably not completely incorrect comparing the music of The Latitudes to this UK band!?
+ Any Given Night
+ Curtains Drawn
J.A. recommends the track Talk To Me by Norwegian electro pop 5-piece Melophonia. If you enjoy the electronic and danceable tunes of bands like Goldfrapp, Tiger Baby etc. (and I have to admit that I do) this is definitely something for you.
+ Talk To Me
I know that UK band Pete and The Pirates should be classified as old news, but the nice and charming (quoting Indie MP3, who mentioned the band a year ago) songs of this indie folk rock/pop band, probably can survive "another round in the spotlight"!
+ This Thyme
+ Ill Love
Lead singer Tom Sanders of Pete and The Pirates and a few musical friends has a side project (?) called Tap Tap and I personally find this band even more interesting. Several reviewers are really high on the band's debut album Lanzafame and more than once the band has been compared to Arcade Fire.

Tonight I'm listening to...
the new track called Organized Faults by Danish electro/indie pop act Volvoe. Just like every other output we've heard from the band so far, this one is really catchy, very danceable (with some 80's influences) and immediately leaves a positive impression. These guys are (for some reason) still unsigned, but I believe a Demo EP is currently being recorded.+ Organized Faults (myspace "quality")

Volvoe - Snowscape
Anyone remember Danish indie/electro act Volvoe that I mentioned several months ago? Even if you don't I strongly recommend that you check out the new track Snowscape that has been uploaded to the band's Myspace profile today. The track, taken from the forthcoming album, is a really catchy and up-tempo electro pop tune that easily matches the quality of the band's previous outputs.+ Snowscape (Myspace quality)
