Landscapes...

Check out new Tiger Baby single Landscapes...taken from the band's new album Open Windows Open Hills. Predictably, this is catchy electro pop.

Messages...

Old favorites (been a fan for nearly 30 years) OMD shares this live version of Messages...

OMD - Messages (Live in Berlin) by 100% Records

You will be loved again...

Been looking forward to this for some time (three months at least...) and am now a happy/lucky/fortunate/privileged owner of an A Month of Unrequited Love CD...doubt that any more copies are available (update: apparently I was dead wrong), so you'll have to grab it from iTunes instead (and it's so worth it).

Missing her again...

Once again; thank you J.A. for the heads up. This is one of two new singles from White Town (yes! the same act who recorded the horrible Your Woman). Missing Her Again however is a really excellent pop song (and the second new single She's A Lot Like You is pretty good as well)...

Shorts...

This will be short...

@Jonas; I know, I know. I owe a post on The Golden Ratio. Coming real soon (if next week is "real soon")...

New single National Runner by [the] caseworker is, is, is absolutely brilliant. Insistingly noisy and catchy exactly as I like it...

There is no justice in this world. The video for Demons, the single by From Sarah, has been viewed exactly 603 times at YouTube. The number of views should have reached 5 digits (at least) by now. Wake up people!

The abovementioned From Sarah is one of the bands who will be performing at next week's Paper Planes Festival. As always familiar matters have top priority, so I won't be able to go. Pretty frustrating as blog favorites The Boombox Hearts is in the line-up as well!

and short it was...

Hot water...

So very old and not really any good anymore (if it ever was)...but since we had not hot water this morning...

SoundCloud...

Every once in a while I spend a little time roaming around SoundCloud with the naïve hope that I will have the great fortune to stumble upon something even remotely interesting. After a slow start I’ve begun to like SoundCloud more and more, as it’s probably the closest we’ll ever (?) come to anything resembling what Myspace used to be; offering some of the same services (especially deep linking and songs tagged by genre), as well as giving you a small chance to unearth something no other blog has discovered. Unfortunately, as often was the case with Myspace, most of the music I find via SoundCloud, when trying my luck, is of such poor quality that it's really not worth anyone’s time. But nonetheless I spent some time yesterday digging deep into the vaults of SoundCloud and this is what little I found...

The Always Unprofessional has close to 10,000 followers and has posted 147 tracks, so this is hardly one of those unknown gems I’m always dreaming of finding. But despite being fairly popular, I don’t think I had ever heard of the band (or rather one-man project) before and since the track Starlet is a cool noisy lo-fi kind of indie pop thing well worth sharing, it - voilà - ends up here.

Before yesterday I didn't know that every single track ever released by Northern Portrait can be streamed at SoundCloud. Now you know as well (unless of course you knew this already and then shame on you for not informing me!).

I'm really not sure what I should think of this cover recorded by Canadian Laurent Aglat. Rather alternative but in a way not without charm...anyone old enough to remember the original?

From Sarah - Demons...

Demons is the only (but hopefully not last) track I've heard so far by Danes From Sarah; and though I do think it sounds a whole lot like Kashmir, it's still unbelievably cool.

Keeping a promise...sort of...

Wrote earlier today that I was planning to post a longer post tonight. Well tonight is now and so far I've done exactly no work (and the same amount of planning) on any post. I guess this means business as usual then; I surf around a bit...check some mails...read a few tweets...scan Facebook and who knows; maybe some time during the evening something interesting will pop up?

Stick around...unless of course you have better things to do (which I sincerely hope for you)...

This is always so embarrassing; checking out a band and thinking to myself that "this is pretty good". Then I visit the band's Facebook page only to find out that I'm already a fan of the band...ahem! Then I double check and realize that I've actually posted a song by the band some months ago...ahem (again)! Perhaps my age is finally catching up with me?

Anyway...The Wandas writes catchy 70's inspired guitar pop/rock songs...and if you haven't surfed on by now and didn't download the song the first time around, I recommend that you invest a few minutes and give them a listen!

Do or Die (new!) by the WANDAS

Forever and Ever (new!) by the WANDAS

I'll let Danish trio Black Light White Light introduce themselves, as it will take me a lifetime (or more) to come up with anything better than this; "Hazy, neo-psychedelic rock with a retro soul bringing you fuzzy and catchy pop songs with a modern Spectorish 60s sound that sucks you in like a crimson lighted sky on a summer night in a desert valley.". Glorious Bastards (which indeed is a catchy 60's sounding pop song) is from the band's debut album due later this fall. Tobias the bassist is Tobias of old blog favorites Death Valley Sleepers.

Ice cold water...

Quite busy at work today, but am planning to spend some time tonight putting together a longer post. Meanwhile enjoy yet another beauty from The Golden Ratio (and yes - I WILL post more on this band real soon).

Shorts...

Still checking mails, updates etc. Here's some of the noteworthy stuff...

The new Digits single is really cool..

And so is this new track by Fops.

She Wants Revenge shares this track from the band's 2008 EP Save Your Soul.

A new RAC remix is up.

Really need to give the new bakers at dawn album Yet a listen. Freebie track under the sea is brilliant!

Will add more...if I find more...

To come into being...

Watch new Danish/Swedish combo The Golden Ratio perform a live in the studio version of their beautiful track To Come Into Being. Promise that I'll post more (probably a lot more) on this band in the future.

Princeton...

In a comment yesterday J.A. compared LA quartet Princeton to Jens Lekman. As always I think you should listen and judge for yourself, but he's not completely wrong...is he?

Checking emails...

Time to work my way through two weeks' worth of emails. Will probably take a few days (understatement of the day).

A Classic Education shares the good news that the band will release their debut album Call It Blazing on 25 October.

Always nice finding a new Jens Lekman song in your inbox. Has yet to grow on me though!

J.A. recommends the classic shoegaze inspired and stunningly brilliant track Light Inside by My Violainé Morning.

As always there are far too many emails promoting concerts, hip-hop acts, remixes and junk in general.

To be continued (tomorrow)...

Before I go go...

The new (and at some point hopefully free to download) Before I Go Go EP by Delay Trees can now be streamed via SoundCloud (just saw that there's a download link there as well). As expected it sounds brilliant!

How does that sound...

Play People has posted this new track for streaming and as always it's a delicious sounding pop gem!

Postcards from italy...

As much as I'm missing the sun, the scenery, the food and the wine, it is (as always) great being home again...
