Havde et indlæg klart og parat fredag aften (i mit hoved altså), men den ubarmhjertige sandhed er, at når først ungerne er lagt i seng, så er jeg for træt til andet end sofa og dårligt TV!

Det ældste yngel er på Vilde Vulkaner, og selvom det ligger en del år ude i fremtiden, så begynder jeg allerede nu at øve mig på argumenter for, hvorfor hun ikke må tage til Roskilde...

Ved første lyt synes det nye album Desire Lines fra Camera Obscura ganske så uinteressant, men jeg giver ikke op så let og klør på med flere chancer.

Played like a record...

The Camera Obscura concert Wednesday evening was lovely. Of course it was. How could it not be, even though one reviewer thought it was yawningly boring? But I (and since this is my blog and my life, my opinion is what matters the most around here) did enjoy the evening thoroughly, which, some great music aside, also included the chance to finally say hello to a few people as well as spending some hard-earned cash on a t-shirt plus the Underachievers Please Try Harder album. I even took a few pictures, but the quality of the snapshots is the lowest of low, so I doubt very much that one or more will end up here.

Anyone remember Le Chevre, which I featured a few years back? The electro pop one-man project of Crispin Glover look-a-like Michael Barksdale? Probably not! But to refresh your (and my) memory, an 8 track self-titled EP/album was released (apparently as far back as) in 2004, which included some rather infectious stuff. So today’s good news (to me at least) out of Myspace is that Le Chevre is still alive and that a new EP is being recorded (a few new tracks can be streamed). If your memory needs to be refreshed further, do check out the three Last.fm freebies below.

Can't help myself, so here's one last reminder. Do remember the Camera Obscura concert tonight! Check (and listen to) the setlist of the concert at The Musician, Leicester on September 25. If the band repeats this setlist, we're in for a treat!

This Must Be It is probably my favorite track on the Junior album by Röyksopp, so obviously I was pretty excited to see that the LehtMoJoe Remix of said track is a free download at Last.fm. But why do I continue being this blue-eyed optimistic, 'cause (once again) it's business as usual, as a remix of an otherwise brilliant song leaves no lasting impression whatsoever.

I’ve probably been sleeping or something 'cause I didn't see this one coming, but Tap Tap has just put out a brand new album named On My Way on Stolen Recordings. There seems to be no promo track to share, but a few song clips are streaming at Myspace. I loved the previous album Lanzafame to death, so I probably "have" no other option than ordering the new album as well.

Grand new single Sea of Regrets by I Like Trains is now streaming at Myspace.

Shame on me, but I still haven't found the time to listen to my promo copy of the new T. H. White album Company Book, which was released yesterday.

Ready to be heartbroken...

Only one day to go and tickets are still available for the Camera Obscura concert tomorrow night at Loppen in Copenhagen. Rather surprised by this, as the capacity of the venue is 400 and tickets cost a mere DKK 120. Hopefully it has more to do with it being Wednesday night (just read that the music won't start until10pm), rather than one of the world’s finest indie pop bands having this few fans in Copenhagen (and pretty much the rest of Zealand as well). For anyone still needing to be convinced that it might be a brilliant idea going, please download the songs below and then read Thomas Ladegaard’s nice little write-up (in Danish) about the band.

New layout...?

I spent a little time today working on a new layout for the blog and if you're interested in seeing how things are progressing, you can check it right here. All inputs are welcome; positive or negative (especially).

Probably old news, but learned today that Magic Arm will be supporting Camera Obscura at Loppen (Copenhagen) on September 30 (and the rest of the band's European tour as well). Obviously I was hoping that Northern Portrait would get that job, but since everything I’ve heard by Magic Arm so far is really interesting, I’m seriously looking forward to become a lot more familiar with the experimental electronic pop universe of this one-man project.

Speaking of Northern Portrait. I checked the Matinée Recordings news page today, but still no news to be found on the band's debut album Criminal Art Lovers. Instead there’s plenty of info on the new Strawberry Whiplash EP Picture Perfect including the mighty fine title track as a free download. Ordering the EP will cost you a measly fiver (USD), so what exactly is stopping you?

Saw a docu last night on Swedish TV about the movie Elegy. The information alone that the Jens Lekman track I'm Leaving You Because I Don't Love You is featured in the movie really, really made want to go see it! Of course you already know that the song can be found on the absolutely wonderful Night Falls Over Kortedala album where you can find these two lovelies as well.

I was pretty impressed by Danish girl trio Giana Factory at this year’s Start! Festival and via Soundvenue comes the news that the band plans to release their debut EP in October. As a small appetizer I suggest you download the three demos available from BandBase.dk. Lead singer Loui Foo is the sister of Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes in case her last name has a familiar ring to it.

Speaking of The Raveonettes. First song from the duo’s forthcoming album In & Out of Control has now been debuted (the term used in the promo mail). Pretty close to brilliant, but who came up with the bizarre idea of naming a catchy and cheerful tune like this Suicide?

Beep...beep...beep...

Although one could be tempted to think otherwise this blog is still very much alive. As mentioned several times before, one of the most inferior things life has to offer (work) sometimes heavily interferes with the more superior things (family, music and blogging) and forces me to make priorities much against my will. And since work pays the bills and blogging certainly doesn’t, I happily confess to be prostituting myself and choosing the inferior over the superior. Not permanently though. Never! But the past few days this has been the case!

As always the mails and news keep coming, so right now I’m reading, listening and working my way through piles and piles...stay tuned!

Chris mailed the other day and informed that The Lightning Seeds will soon be releasing a new album. Four Winds will be out May 18, and it's the band’s first album since the release of Tilt in November 1999. No question that Ian Broudie was one of my musical heroes of the 1990’s, so I’m looking forward to the release with a mix of both excitement and nervousness.

I always seem to be weeks behind everyone else, and when it comes to the new Camera Obscura album things are no different, as it arrived in my mailbox just a few days ago. Why it took me so long to order, I cannot tell, but exactly as I expected My Maudlin Career is a simply wonderful piece of work containing an amazing string of infectious indie-pop tunes. The band will be touring throughout the summer, but for whatever reason a Danish show has yet to be announced.

As soon as I’ve finished listening to My Maudlin Career (one more time), I’m going to give the new album Sisters by Stars in Coma a good listen. Released a couple of days ago on Music Is My Girlfriend and the album can be streamed in its entirety at Last.fm.

Camera Obscura and? Who knows what the day will bring!

Was I really the lone musicblogger in the Universe who hadn't heard of Camera Obscura? A quick search at Hype Machine definitely makes me look like I was (or still am) quite an ignorant! Oh well! Thanks to Peter (go there for more songs) I now am familiar with this incredible fine Scottish indie pop band.

Peter brings us two more very interesting and highly recommendable posts. The first one is about The Ukrainians covering The Smiths songs in the Ukrainian language. I'm not really convinced that I like these versions, but it's certainly not without charm!

The second post is about the great sounding Japanese (?) band Flat7. If you're into shoegaze/noisepop you definitely must listen to this band!
