Shorties...

My body means serious business and it just won't let me forget my age. My back is still a painful mess!

I have too many CD’s - plain and simple. I spent half an hour last night searching for Godspeed Into The Mainstream, and although I found lots of CD's I had forgotten all about, I never did find that Spleen United debut. Perhaps the girls have swapped it for a pair of candy bags? Don’t forget that the sophomore album Neanderthal will be out later this month!

The morning started with some seriously bad news. J.A. mailed the info that Danish The Smiths’ inspired quintet The Cupids has decided to split up, even though a single release seemed to be just around the corner.

The new Moto Boy single (to be released next week on Songs I wish I had written) is a gorgeous piece of sweet pop music.

In A Cyclone Of Stones recommends lovely Swedish indie poppers bakers at dawn. The new 9 track EP anything in particular is up for grabs right here. This stuff is simply too good and too interesting to overlook.

Flowers of Romance is the title of a brand new track by Green Concorde and it's arguably their best track to date. Stream only.

One event that you shouldn't miss - next Friday (January 18) a few of the Frekvens boys will be DJ'ing at the Beta Satan concert at Musikcafeen in Århus. Read more.

The Cupids - Revisited...

Yesterday I was contacted by a visitor to the blog, who had stumbled upon this older post on Danish band The Cupids. He asked about news, official releases etc., and to be able to answer his questions I contacted one of the band members. He replied, informing me that the band is very much alive, and has recently been spending a lot of time rehearsing. The best news, however, is that the band will soon start recording and chances should be fine that more information will flow this way very soon. Back then I thought the band reminded me of The Smiths and it certainly still does!

Two bands you simply must check out before Christmas (so you’re in a bit of a hurry!)!

I mentioned Danish band The Cupids in my post yesterday, but I believe they deserve a bit more attention than a one-liner. The band describe their music as ”Happy pop at first, but a closer listen reveals a much darker side not unlike some of the big British acts from the 80's.” and since I immediately thought of The Smiths, this description cannot be completely wrong.
The melodies are immediate and very catchy and it will only be a matter of (short) time, before these guys are signed to a record contract (if this isn’t the case already!).

British Band Vib Gyor is quite popular at Myspace (nearly 4,800 friends), which really isn’t surprising once you’ve listened to their music! Following in the footsteps of the likes of Jeff Buckley, Coldplay and Kashmir (some even mention Sigur Ros and Pink Floyd), their music certainly appeals to lots of people. So far they have released a couple of EP’s, but I wouldn’t be surprised if an album is released next year! Good stuff!
