Photo from far away...

Florida indie/alternative trio The Monday Photo is currently recording ("lots of") new stuff and the band has posted a video to give us all some impression of what is happening. I have no idea what the track is called, but it certainly sounds promising! Download the band's entire (?) back catalogue here.


The other day I had to send a complaint to Danish duo BREUM, because the boys had uploaded a new track to Myspace without informing me. How exactly am I supposed to help spreading the words without knowing what's going on? Luckily I was able to dig up the news myself, so here it is - the new track called Langt Væk ("Far Away").

I received the great news yesterday that we'll soon hear new material from Danish indie rock band Demons Are Real. More "evil sounding" guitars are promised on the new songs, though I really like the Joy Division inspired sound on the Hum Speed On/Off EP (all 6 tracks available for free from the band's webpage).

Stream the new single called Angel by Saybia. The band's third album will be released August 27.

No - I haven't forgotten about Gaffa's demo of the month (June). The quartet Ave is this month's pick and the band's demo Follow Your Saint receives the remarkable 6 stars out of 6. The band is compared to Kashmir and Radiohead, and the music is the dark, epic and gorgeous kind that just never seems to stop growing.

Some of you might remember the Danish duo Tetris = Therapy that I mentioned some time ago? One of the band members (Rune) participates in a few other band projects, of which the duo Sometimes has caught my attention. The band name is an obvious My Bloody Valentine reference and the music is inspired by some of the major shoegaze bands of the 80's and 90's (Slowdive, MBV, Ride etc.). Danish shoegaze bands are few and far between (or at least I'm not very good at finding them), so I'll definitely follow this duo closely hoping that it will evolve into something more serious than just a part time project.

BREUM...

I mentioned promising Danish duo BREUM a while ago, and this week the duo is picked as band of the week over at Mymusic.dk. The two tracks I mentioned back then are now available for free at Mymusic, but in a much better quality than at Myspace. But since you have to be a registered member to be able to download the tracks, I've taken the liberty to upload the songs, thus making them easier to download (if anyone object to this, please let me know). The songs are in Danish, but don't let that prevent you from giving them a listen!!

BREUM...

Danish duo BREUM sent me a Myspace "friend" request the other day, but I didn't check them out until tonight. Normally I shy away from bands singing in Danish, but luckily I did an exception tonight and gave the new project of the Breum brothers a listen (both are ex-members of Coolsville). This is catchy (and in their own words "dark and romantic") 80's inspired pop music and fans of the more well-known Danish bands TV-2 and Nephew should welcome these newcomers (or at least - new band), as vocals and music sounds like the perfect blend of those two bands (with the mandatory twist of Depeche Mode/Pet Shop Boys). The track Ikke Bange has been added to the play list on Danish national radio P3, which hopefully will secure the band some well deserved exposure. The debut album is set for release in 2007, but for obvious reasons no exact date has been given, as so far only the two featured tracks have been completed.
